Whilst visiting friends and family I found myself staying in Buxton. The hotel reviews were not so good regarding the food, and I was recommended by the lady in the hotel lift, to come here. So I did. Firstly it had to be dog friendly. So that Denver could come with me. Then the food had to be great. And I wasn’t disappointed. Denver slept through the experience last night and tonight. The staff are particularly lovely team of girls. Clearly all friends. Clearly all very relaxed around the various visiting diners. Nothing has been too much trouble. Nothing I’ve asked for has been an issue, and I have a lactose problem. Even the chef came out to discuss my situation! Front of house is a very lively French chap called Gerry. I real live wire and knowledgeable regarding the food and alternatives available. I sometimes feel awkward talking about my lactose issue. I needn’t have worried here. Nothing seemed to be an issue. Highly recommend this restaurant for quality food and drinks and atmosphere.

My friend and I ordered 2 different cocktails, they both tasted awful. However I did not send my back because I was very thirsty. Anyway my friend attempted to send her back after one sip and requested it to be changed for a prosecco drink due to the bad taste. The staff told her she will be charged for the prosecco because saying that she didn’t like her cocktail was not an acceptable reason to them. I would say the problem with those 2 cocktails were that the juice they used taste like very cheap juice plus you couldn’t taste the alcohol in either of them. I have been to the restaurant before and had good experiences with the food every time but won’t be going back due to the bad service we received in this occasion. I would have understood they refusing to change the cocktail if someone try to send it back after drinking some of it but after one sip, clearly something was wrong with the cocktail. I would suggest to people if you are after cocktails to go next door to the cocktail bar, those cocktails are excellent there.

What a fantastic, authentic French restaurant - not a particularly common occurrence in the UK. I could immediately tell it was the real deal and it didn’t disappoint. Food was just great, we had steak baguette, salmon baguette and mussels. The owners were very nice and interesting to talk to. They served real Normandie cider as well, and overall cost was very good value for the quality.

We came here twice for family lunch and had a fantastic experience both times. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the service is great, and the menu captures the spirit of French cuisine beautifully. We don’t live locally, but we’re more than happy to make the trip to come here. There’s no website to make a reservation but doing it by phonecall is very straightforward.

After a day out in nearby Bakewell and Derby, we came back to Buxton to try another restaurant for dinner. We didn't make any table bookings in advance, but was lucky that there were some tables available for non-reservations at the time (on Friday, 27th Jan at 6.30pm). We were greeted and seated promptly. Drinks and food menus were offered quickly and a complimentary jug of water was given without us asking. Which made us feel more welcoming and comfortable after a long day. There are a lot of choices for drinks (non- and alcoholic, hot and cold) and food (with vegetarian options). A pre-theatre set menu was also available. We chose the scallops & crayfish salad for starters and Ribeye steak with (extra cost) peppercorn sauce. The scallops were fresh, sweet and tender, as were our big Ribeye steaks - which were cooked perfectly to our request (medium cooked) - see photo. The music in the background was relaxing and not too loud, the decor was amusing - especially the French man mannequin at the entrance front door. We just couldn't resist taking a photo beside him! The toilets are located in the bar dining area, just around the main restaurant dining area. The tables are spaced out effectively so we don't feel crowded. The waitresses and floor manager are all very friendly and helpful. Service and food was excellent as were my mocktails, "feisty red head", which was pretty to look at as well as delicious and thirst quenching.

A lovely French restaurant. Prices are a little on the high side and the acoustics in the restaurant are slightly noisy. The presentation of the main course dishes need attention to reflect the prices charged. The presentation was a bit underwhelming and a bit pub grub style.

Great food and drinks in a fabulous French atmosphere. We sat next to two mannequins, that were quite interesting! All in all, an enjoyable experience.

We went to the restaurant for lunch in a group of 5 (we made reservations before hand). The menu is very appealing with several options that seems delicious. The onion soup was very good but the main dishes were below average, the salmon pesto was very dry and over baked and the croque salmon was very salty. The desserts were also bad, the tarte tatin had a very strong taste of butter (excessive) and the mousse was frozen and with no mousse texture at all. Not sure if we got unlucky because we went for late lunch.
