Very ‘authentic’ HK style dimsum - love it here! A little bit pricey, but hey it is Kingston after all! Lucky to have this spot as a local restaurant. They have changed owner / name of the restaurant recently- FYI. Fav dishes so far - the siu mai, har gau, pork buns, custard cream buns and the pork pastry. Decent beef hor fun.

6/10, a real hit and miss. You either enjoy it, or don’t. When the food came, it looked appetising however the taste was not the best; it’s not terrible but it’s not the best. Portions were very big though, so order less! The lady who served us (Felis or something) was so lovely and really helped us on what and how to order. She made the time worthwhile. Very bog standard decor, plenty of seating. Situated right by the riverside.

There aren’t many Chinese restaurants in central Kingston that are not takeaways or buffets so we decided to try this one when we saw it appear in the place of the old Slug & Lettuce. The decor is OK, typical but not outstanding. I liked the dishes they served the food in - very pretty. We ordered sweet and sour chicken and chicken satay, not at almost £15 at the time of written this. We also ordered the golden egg fried rice at almost £6 for a bowl. The food didn’t take long to arrive but then again only 2 tables were occupied at this moment, including us, so I can’t comment on how long the food takes when busy. The sweet and sour chicken was really good - with plenty of vegetables and not too sour. The satay chicken, however was terrible. It came as a flat chicken steak that was cut in strips and it looked like lightly battered/coated. It proved so soft and chewy that I couldn’t tell of it was raw or had the skin on (which I hate) or something else unidentified was there. It was only 2 of us so we finished the sweet and sour chicken and took the satay home to see if my husband could tell what it was that made it so chewy (he couldn’t). The rice portion was large but I still struggle to justify £6 for one of the cheapest foods. We were charged 50p for a take away plastic box which made it feel like we were in a take away place. There was service charge on top of everything but I honestly didn’t feel there was a good reason to pay extra £5-6 for someone to take my order and to bring the dishes to the table (which is basically what they should be paid for anyway). Unfortunately, with all the financial squeezes we are facing, it’s a big ask to get us come back.

Went in for lunch on a weekday for 4 adults and a baby. Plenty of seating, the restaurant wasn’t very busy given the day of the week. The food I have to give high scores for, the duck was great, pork & dim sum were tasty and probably the best I’ve tasted in the Kingston area. We usually go into london Chinatown for dim sum and this place is like a more sophisticated version of that. Only downside would be I’d say it’s on the pricey side, but given the very attentive friendly service I’m fine with it. Saves a trip into central when you have that dim sum and duck craving. Would go again !
