   I went into the Bon Marche in Church Square Shopping Arcade in St Helens and had a great experience. Janet helped me in choosing a sweatshirt which suited my needs. Janet went above and beyond with the customer service I received. I needed another 3 stamps to make my total to 10 so I could get another clothing item before the stamps get wiped out at the end of the month. Thanks Janet.

   Had to return an item bought in Warrington store the previous day. I had an eye appointment in St Helens, so returned the item there as it was close to the optician’s . I had paid by cash, the item was unworn , tag was still attached. An exceptionally rude assistant told me she could not process my refund as she only had £10 in the till, as they had just opened. The item cost me £14. She asked me several times repeatedly to choose another item for an exchange. I wanted a refund, as I was in a hurry to get to the optician’s. She refused my refund saying that she didn’t have the £ in the till to refund me. I said no way do you only have a £10 float-she then said the float was £100. She totally lied in the first place. I insisted on my refund & informed her that I didn’t like her attitude towards me & she needed to check herself in the future. Won’t be shopping in Bon Marche in the future-in any of the stores! Fine when taking your money, not when refunding it, employing rude assistants who are obstructive & tell lies.

   Called in yesterday with my granddaughter and bought a waterproof jacket and swim suit. Got to the till and was charged £26.60 I paid by card and when the machine said authorized I removed my card. The lady behind the till then said that it hadn't gone through because the machine was out of paper. I told her that just because the machine had no paper in it didn't mean it hadn't taken my payment, she would just need to do a duplicate receipt. To which she replied it hadn't. I then checked my bank account and showed her the pending £26.60 for Bon marche. She then rang it through the till again. And was most put out. If your staff can't work the merchant machine then they shouldn't be on their own. I wasn't offered a duplicate receipt or an apology. And made to feel like I was taking the goods without paying. If I hadn't stood my ground then I would have paid twice. If paying by card beware.!!!!

   Not very nice assistant complainingof taking clothes back, not easy you carn't try clothes on and if sleeves are tight carn't be worn jeans to tight on the thighs. Again not my fault normally don't have a problem but jeans are going tighter on the thighs, So again not my fault. No refund just a credit note not good enough really.
