I've just returned from breakfast at the window box cafe. The look and decor is great. It gave good vibes. Menu also looks great, good range and variety. I ordered a Garden Breakfast. It came quickly and looked ok presentation wise. A decent size portion for the price. I tucked into my smashed avocado, bland and not very fresh. No biggy, I've had plenty of slightly overripe avocado before. Next the poached egg, nice cook and runny, bit cold. When entered my mouth I was smacked round the face with aniseed. It and the tomatoes were covered in dried chervil. Covered is an exaggeration of course. But way to much to taste anything other than a liquorice twist with aniseed. Beans ok. Sourdough ok, ask for extra butter if you go. Mushroom was overcooked, and looked and cut like rubber. I didn't try it. Halloumi was burnt underneath, bits of black, but fine on the top side. It was rubbery in texture. I ate my beans, half my toast. No one asked how my food was. I understand it's difficult to provide that service these days (staff cost and taxes) but the place was not busy. As I left I caught the eye of a gentlemen on a laptop. Asked if he worked there. I not very constructivley, exclaimed that the food was awful. His response was we sell 1000's of these in a week (you don't but ok a reaction). We looked at my plate together. I explained about too much chervil and that the halloumi was burnt. His response was that it is meant to be black. I'm sorry, it is not, it's meant to be golden brown. Black is burnt and makes it bitter. The chervil reply, that's how we serve it. Again with the line we sell 1000's of these a week (you really don't). The gentlemen did not listen to any of my feed back. Which to be honest just really irritated me. So I'm a hostile customer now, not what I wanted to be and the gentleman is in defensive mode instead of actually listening. I was offered a full refund but I really didn't want to hang around in there anymore, so left. Needless to say I do recommend that dish and if you wish to provide feedback or complain. Don't bother.

What a gorgeous little place! It was packed, but the staff did everything they could not to leave us standing and waiting for too long. The menu is nice and simple (less is more in a cafe!) Wonderful flavours and great drink choices. The tea was a bit of a let down, as pale as dish water even after being brewed in the pot for ages! But that wasn't a huge disaster and didn't take away from the fact that the food was delicious!

Drove by this several times, and eventually made our way for a nice brunch. Friendly welcome and sit anywhere option. Decent menu with hot drinks. Opted for halloumi stack, sweet bun with bacon and guacamole and chilli jam. Was too big to eat as a 'burger', but cut in half it was edible. Everything was brilliantly cooked and super flavourful. Chai latte was nice and hot, but lacked any real flavour(possibly powdered?). Other than than my other half had a really nice cup of English tea (and a cool tea depot dispenser) with a plate of pancakes, bacon, syrup and berries - agai delicious and expertly cooked. Loved that you can order and pay on the app. Highly recommended, don't miss out. It does get busy at the weekend.

Windowbox CafΓ© has a cozy, nicely decorated interior, especially charming with its festive touch before Christmas. It was warm and welcoming inside, but during our visit, there was an issue with water dripping from a faulty roof window, leading to part of the seating area being closed. Unfortunately, there was also a mistake with our order. Of the three meals we ordered, only one was brought out. It turned out the kitchen was closing, and they had overlooked the remaining two meals. While they did apologize and the chef quickly prepared the missing dishes, the mishap did impact the overall experience. Despite these issues, the ambiance was lovely, and it has potential to be a great spot with better attention to service and maintenance.

This is our third visit to this lovely and very popular little cafe. We went at 9:30, opening time on a Sunday, and there was a little group gathered waiting to get in. There is a reason why itβs so adored by the locals. The food is really really top notch, being the perfect balance of filling, tasty and gorgeous. Really hearty dishes made with a lot of love. Thereβs loads of options, catering for all, especially with the drinks, where interesting specials are a regular if youβre one for something a little different (matcha smoothie being my choice today). The staff are friendly, service is quick and the interior is very pleasing on the eye. What a great little place and It sure does feel like home every time I walk in there now, the friendly atmosphere being the cherry on top :)

Very nice but it was a shame about the toast. The crust was rock hard. Very hard to cut. Felt like asking for a steak knife. Other than that, it was lovely. Thanks. βΊοΈ

One of the nicest cafes I've visited in a long time, definitely a new favourite spot! Lots of lovely breakfast and brunch options to choose from, I'll definitely be back to try a few more! I had the breakfast flatbread and a huge slice of carrot cake, both of which were delicious. Very happy with the coffee too! It's really easy to use the qr code and website to order food straight to the table, but you can also pop up to the counter if you have any questions. All of the staff were lovely and helpful.

This is a great local breakfast and brunch spot, IF you can get a table. There is no advance bookings for table so it is luck of the draw on the day if you manage to find capacity. I do find it strange that there is no booking facility but I guess they do not need bookings when they are always busy and a popular choice. The food is what you would expect for a breakfast type cafe and a nice selection of desserts too! Beware of parking which can be tricky to find especially on a weekend! The cronuts are a must try! Iβm looking forward to my 3rd visit this year!
