We came to the area close to Hurley to buy local produce and afterwards we wanted to find somewhere for eats and drinks. The guy we bought from recommended The Anchor Inn. "It's a lovely place," he said. "The food is home cooked. It's lovely and not expensive." We decided to give it a try and how pleased we were. It's a traditional English pub, quite historic too and the food we had, some of it vegan, was lovely. The staff made us feel welcome and the cost of the food was very reasonable. The Anchor Inn is great, go on . . . give it a try.

We visit this pub every Wednesday for dinner, and there is a varied menu with vegetarian and vegan options. I have tried most meals on the menu, and everyone has been cooked and served to a high standard. We also visit for the Sunday lunch. These are excellent value and cooked to perfection crispy roast potatoes and veg that have a bite to them. Also, there is a variety of desserts, some of which are home cooked. All these meals are served by friendly attentative staff. There is also a good selection of beers and ales.

Outside there is a sign which reads " hot and cold food" - only when you book apparently, there were five tables out of seven vacant, they didn't have a choice of decent wine, the bar person had a very thick accent and had to repeat three times to us "are you booked?" and when we said "no" we were informed that we were not welcome to eat without a booking - considering the amount of empty tables I would have thought that a few more customers would have been a good thing but obviously they don't want the business - certainly won't be even thinking of going there again!!!!!!!!!!

Nice place, pleasent staff and decent food. It was rainy when we visited but it looked like there were plenty of things for our little lad to play on in the beer garden.
