3 out of 4 of us ordered sirloin steaks. The other meal was fish. The steaks were tough and inedible. We saved them for the dog! We spoke to the manager Joel who understood and dealt with the issue so well. We cannot fault the way he dealt with the issue offering us drinks and or dessert. We eat here often and have never had any issues before. Can I say Joel was very professional and made us feel very valued customers, thank you Joel. This hiccup will not affect us dining here again

I recently had a meal at this pub and was really impressed. The place was spotless — you can tell the staff take real pride in keeping everything clean and welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, perfect for a casual lunch or evening out. The staff were all friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. A special shout-out to Megan, who went above and beyond — she was cheerful, professional, and made sure everything was just right for us. The food was delicious and well-presented, with generous portions and great value for money. Overall, a great experience that I’d definitely recommend. I’ll be back again soon!

We recently had to arrange a family funeral and decided to hold the reception here for 20 people after the service. It was a great choice. We had a dedicated seating area reserved for us, the buffet was delicious and plentiful but most importantly, the staff were polite, friendly and very efficient. Can not thank them enough and we would highly recommend the Horse and Jockey

I totally do not agree with staff putting a reservation notice on my table for someone who had phoned in to reserve a table for later. My table was empty when I first sat down with no reservation notice on it. It is the equivalent of telling me I have to leave or move when these other people arrive. I did therefore leave earlier than I intended to, and did not order the food that i was considering ordering before going home. There are reservation notices on most of the tables for varying times of the day in this pub, as it is a popular pub. But a person should never expect be given notice that they may be expected to move or leave for the sake of others who reserve tables. For this reason alone I doubt that I'll be visiting again anytime soon. The pub is nice though, and staff were friendly.

Great food and very friendly staff. Had a lovely time with family on mother's day. Food reasonably priced and drinks too.Only draw back was being on table 6, this was near the door and when customers kept door open we kept feeling a cold draft of air. If not for that we would rate 5 stars

The pub is really nice atmosphere and when the food arrived was tasty. But it took almost an hour for main to arrive and then almost another hour for dessert. Would have been ideal if we had been told how long food was going to take. Waitress was apologetic and offered free coffees as apology. Service today not great such a shame.

It's...fine. Food is nice (maybe a bit pricey? Cost of living though it's understandable) Drinks are pretty average for the area. Few on tap here they don't have in other pubs locally. Nice atmosphere, toilets usually clean. Good staff.

Nice place for beer and food. Sunday dinner is good with large portions and well cooked. A good selection of beer on tap and is kept well, always had a good pint in here. Staff are very friendly and happy to help. Have been here a few times as part of a large group, 6 or more, and never been an issue, even with toddlers. Definitely recommend the pub and food. Only downside is carpark is quite small and awkward for size of pub, remember to input your reg plate details and parking is free. Easy to do on the pad at the bar. Great place and staff.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting last Saturday and we stayed for several hours, having walked up through Sutton. It was a bit of nostalgia for my partner but seeing the structural and menu change. We had to try the food. It had the best vegan options I've seen in any pub I've visited so far. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I tried several types of gin too.
