We shared scallops, squid, and chicken pâté to start all beautifully presented and full of flavour. For mains, the fish and chips and beef roast were spot on, hearty, and cooked perfectly. Finished with cinnamon ice cream, the perfect ending to a great meal. Excellent food and lovely atmosphere. We’ll be back!
Visited here last year for drinks and saw the food being brought out to the tables and was instantly impressed by the quality and the food smelt amazing. Now one year on and I decided to attend for my birthday at the weekend, and the food did not disappoint! Firstly, the atmosphere inside the pub is very warm and inviting with old style character. You can tell it’s a popular location with the number of people attending for food, the pub is also very spacious with plenty of space, but I would recommend booking in advance as it is a popular location. Once seated we were well looked after and proceeded to order drinks and starters. I tried the pigeon for the first time and was impressed! Afterwards I ordered the lamb shoulder which tasted amazing! Just about had enough room for dessert which was a banoffee cheesecake. This was the best meal I have had in a while and really could not fault anything. Service, food and drinks were all great with a good selection at the bar and on the menu. If you are looking for a quality meal for a celebration, then I would highly recommend visiting here! Loved it. Tasteful environment and had a great fire going, despite being midweek lunchtime. Large but cosy and full of natural light, various dining and seating areas. Very good table service and excellent food. Very decent portions...the pudding pictured was their mini version. Will look forward to going there again.
Dinner, March 23; A lovely pub restaurant, clean and comfortable. My burger wasn't great, but I'll definitely return to try another dish. The cauliflower starter was delish! £56 1x cauliflower, 2x burgers, 1 x mini dessert and tea 1x bottle of sparkling water.
Amazing place! Well-spaced tables. Polite, knowledgeable staff. The food was fantastic and generous portions too.
Gluten free choices were excellent, however food wasn't very hot. Could have been more to it. Flavours were definitely interesting but nothing to shout from the rooftops about
This is one of the hidden jewels of Edgbaston. The qualitative food combined with the authentic British atmosphere make this restaurant "a must go" if you are looking for a traditional British pub with excellent food. I also recommend a small walk in Edgbaston after lunch as the area is quite nice.
I have drove past this place for years and finally got the chance to visit. What ana absolute hidden gem this place is. Exceptional customer service; The food was a total surprise and it was out of this world. The decor is chic and I definitely want to visit again!
