I've visited here a couple of times and not a good experience, bad customer service and "no care" attitude. Went in today around 15.30 and was again disappointed, had asked a staff on the floor about car seats, she said let me get someone, after standing around for over 5 minutes eventually went to cash desk to ask if someone was coming, your poor staff at the desk knew nothing about it, not there fault at all, in fact they were amazing, unfortunately i didn't get the name of the girl who helped us with the car seat, but the young mans name was Ibrahim (unsure of spelling sorry) absolutely fantastic, it would be good if all staff were like them. As I said the couple of times being there a lot of staff standing around chatting and showing not much interest in your customers.

I visited Halfords, Selly Oak on Friday 21st November at around 3pm. I had travelled up to Birmingham the night before from Dorset (3.5 hours) with no heating in my car. After advice from my garage at home I went to Halfords to buy coolant as on checking, the tank was empty. I was helped firstly by a lovely gentleman on the customer service desk, who identified the correct coolant for my car and promptly went off to find it for me. He asked another member of staff to come and check that I was safely opening the tank and putting the coolant into the correct level. All this was done with kindness and thoughtfulness, no judgement and with just the right amount of humour to lighten a stressful day. Thank you to the two members of staff, I'm sorry I didn't get your names, but you really put a smile on my face and made the journey home much easier, especially as I now had heating!!.

I recently visited Halfords to have a headlight bulb replaced, and it turned out to be one of the most frustrating customer service experiences Iβve ever had. I used the in-store machine to identify the correct bulb for my car, selected it, and went to the till. The cashier, Yvette, told me about a deal if I signed up for Halfords, which meant I could get both headlights changed and fitted for a good price β so I agreed. After waiting around 20 minutes, I was called over by the person fitting my bulbs β I believe her name was Lauren, although she had no name badge. From the start, there was no communication or professionalism. She didnβt ask me which bulb was out, didnβt explain what she was doing, and barely acknowledged me. I even said Iβd be next door if she needed me, and all I got was a grunt in response. When I returned, she bluntly told me that Iβd bought the wrong bulbs β and that she had already changed my full beam bulbs instead of my dipped headlights, which didnβt need changing! She then informed me that the correct bulbs would cost Β£55 each. Naturally, I refused β I was already frustrated that Iβd paid for a fitting that wasnβt even necessary. Feeling annoyed and confused, I went back into the store to speak with someone. The man at the till tried to help, but everything in that store moves painfully slow β expect to wait around half an hour just to be served. Yvette, who had originally served me, admitted she knew about the situation and then simply walked off, leaving the poor cashier completely unsure of what to do. Lauren (the fitter) came back over and instead of calmly resolving the issue, she began shouting at me across the counter, showing a complete lack of respect and customer care. I asked to speak to a manager, and Rebecca came out. It was immediately clear that she had already spoken to her colleagues and made up her mind before even hearing my side. Her response was incredibly dismissive β repeatedly asking, βWell, what do you want from this?β as if that excused the appalling service. She then went on to tell me it was my fault for not checking through the full selection of bulbs myself, despite the fact I used Halfordsβ own machine to find the correct product β a service designed specifically to prevent this kind of situation! In the end, no apology, no accountability, and no resolution. I left feeling completely let down. This store is a perfect example of how poor leadership and disinterested staff can ruin a customer experience. From the slow service and lack of communication to the outright rudeness and blaming of customers β itβs truly unacceptable. I would strongly recommend avoiding this branch entirely. It needs serious management intervention and staff training on basic customer service, professionalism, and respect.

Products are good and stock availability is good. What lets Halfords down are some staff. In the Selly Oak store I often feel like I am bothering the staff. In the last 5 years I have never been approached and asked if I need assistance or provided with product information unless I approach staff, wait for their attention and ask direct questions. I every scenario staff are not rude but do not engage beyond processing the purchase, offering no explanation of products. Interaction is increasingly transactional and void of voluntary support. Very inefficient customer service.

My recent visit to Halfords was excellent, I could not have expected more from the very helpful service they provided me with. I bought a new dashcam to replace one that had been stolen. The member of staff who served me was able to confirm that there were several models in the store that matched my old dashcam. They were very polite and explained differences between the several models available that would work with the wiring that was still in my car and and fitted it for me in a matter of a few minutes without any charges. I came away delighted with the service and the dashcam which works perfectly so I feel much safer and happier since this very successful shopping trip to Halfords.

A really excellent and well run branch of Halfords. Have used it several times, but my most recent experience was super impressive. Needed to buy a roofbox and have it fitted. Halfords no longer stocked the basic fitting parts but the manager told me which ones i needed to get. I ordered them online then went back today. It was pouring with rain but they soldiered on, including a major effort to free up holes for the bolts, which had rusted solid. Very grateful to everyone involved and highly recommended this branch. Thanks guys!

The staff here have been so helpful and easy going. Bought a bike and they helped with discount codes, crashed the bike and took it back and they repaired the damage (free of charge!) had a service with them and they were friendly and knowledgable and bike came back better than it went in so definitely worth it. Lots of advice and they even remembered who I was each visit! This store feels like itβs staff are going above and beyond! Great examples of good customer service! Thanks!

Excellent experience. Has new headlight bulbs fitted this morning and this service was quick, friendly and hassle free, all done by a lovely girl whoβs name I wish I could remember! Shop well stocked and organised and a friendly male shop assistant who was very helpful too.
