Wouldn't know what it's like because we couldn't go inside with our children (11 and 12). We love a good pub and our children are well behaved and enjoy a good game of chess usually. We called on our way back from York and had picked this place as we like local, small old fashioned cozy pubs for a nice quiet drink. But big sign on front door saying under 18s outside only. Doesn't sit right with us and how we have brought up our children. Most disappointing.

Specific stopofftargeted cos we'd not been here for a goodly number of years and lo and behold it ain't changed. Thank goodness. Best described as quaint n quirky. Olde worlde charm and great pint of Sam Smiths best bitter Traditional lovely Yorkshire barmaid Sue served us with a smile and chatted as she served real ale. Outside on a lovely day we spent an hour indulging in local nostalgic conversations with proper Yorkshire village folk. A true gem in the wonderful traditional historic Northern village of Saxton nΜext to where the bloodiest battle fought on English soil was fought - the battle of Towton - in 1461 during the War of the Rose's. Pure Bliss.

I would like to say a massive thank you to the landlord for is help and assistance. Itβs not often you meet such a nice guy. What an amazing pub and his knowledge of the history of the place was fascinating. From Rob the stranded delivery driver.

Loved the charm and friendliness of everyone! History is written on the table......once you've sat down to enjoy your pint, the vibe kicks in. You will relax!

Proper old school Sam Smith's village pub. Small selection of well kept beers. Bar snacks. Doesn't accept cards.

The Greyhound is one of those backwater olde fashioned local pubs for local people. Run and stocked by Sam Smiths the range of draught is limited to beer and stout, although there are bottles available behind the counter. They donβt do food and they donβt do mobiles or any other electronic devices, seriously they have signs up telling you not to get them outβ¦not that it matters as I have never been able to get a signal there. Despite a roaring open fire next to the 3foot long bar it can get cold in some of the areas of the drinking space provided so be prepared. The photo is of the church directly next door. Oh, and the gents loos are outside and open air.

Unique rules but friendly staff helped to interpret them. Beer excellent. Just wish dogs were allowed inside as it was a cold and breezy November day in Yorkshire.

Traditional Yorkshire pub. Great beer. Great atmosphere. Always made welcome and always someone to have a chat with.... lovely flowers and garden in the summer to sit out side...real fires in the winter. One of Mr Smiths finest of which he should be proud of with Tina at the helm. Thank you Tina x

This pub is a gem !! there is no WiFi no TV no music. It a pub that's seems to have been there since Time it's self ?.the landlady and her husband were so so friendly .locals to even though the once a year bicycle race had created problems parking .It's a tiny pub with three small rooms all with open fires .If 20 people were in this pub it would feel very cosy lol but there is plenty of space out side and that's were you will find the toilet .
