The pub accomadated us today 6 adults and 4 children. They were kind enough to offer a child's menu for the two youngest children. The adults had the cavery. Toby cavery does NOT come anywhere close to the food here. I had pork and beef . It was cooked to perfection . The vegetables and potatoes were fresh and very tasty . A big plus for me was that the food was piping hot ! Our italian family said it was the best roast dinner ever !! Service was very good even through the staff were all busy. Thank you. We will be back.

We walked from our home south of the city out to Naburn to visit the Tea Rooms at Naburn Lock. Disappointed to discover that the local big house (Naburn Hall?) blocked public access to the Ings from the village, necessitating a half-mile walk along a lane along which cars drive too fast for the conditions. Fortunately, we found a route from the end of the village (right at the very end of the footpath) which took us criss-crossing across British Waterways land straight to the Tea Rooms, not strictly legal but with no apparent disruption to the running of the lock. Unfortunately, contrary to the live information on Google the venue had closed for a kitchen refurbishment. Walking back towards Naburn it was hard to tell from Google if the Blacksmith's Arms in the village had re-opened after its most recent closure - bit of a checkered career of late - but fortunately it had and, despite the hour being just past two pm they were still serving food (O joy!). We weren't out for a full meal so I chose fish finger sandwich whilst my wife had a halloumi dish, we also shared a plate of chips. The food, served quickly and hot, was very good and reasonably-priced. In particular and, unusually in my experience for pub meals such as this, the salad which came with my meal was very good - substantial with a good mix of ingredients and a very tasty dressing. My meal also included a small serving of skin-on chips which, again, were some of the best I've had with a pub meal and with everything washed-down by a pint of Hobgoblin IPA we felt very satisfied and grateful for our visit. We both felt that the experience was very enjoyable in this tastefully refurbished pub with friendly and efficient service and a pleasant ambiance. We'll definitely be back.

Had a lovely meal Saturday evening, the chef accommodated us, even though we were very late(not our fault) only a few minutes before last food order, he produced a delicious curry for me and delicious fish and chips for my husband. So we decided to book for Sunday carvery. Absolutely delicious with an excellent choice of vegetables and trimmings with a good choice of meats, all very hot, very tasty, well presented by a friendly chef

What an absolute gem of a pub. Such a warm welcome and amazing food. Dogs were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Made to feel like we were friends

We visited today as a family of 4 for the first time and can honestly say it was one of the best carvery meals we have ever had. The food was absoloutly gorgeous, fresh, hot and so tasty with a great selection. The gentleman that welcomed us (sorry didn't get your name) was so welcoming and helpful. My husband is currently using crutches so he carried his plate for him and plated his meal whilst my husband chose what he wanted from the carvery and brought it to our table for him. We really appreciated your help. Will definitely be back in the future. Thanks so much for a lovely New year's day meal.

My Wife and I went for a Sunday lunch. We had the vegetarian option and were not disappointed. You are supposed to book ahead as they do dinner in sittings (make sure you do!), but they managed to squeeze us in! The food was amazing! especially the sides like the creamy leak and the potato dauphinoise! The staff were really welcoming too, had a good chat with both the host and the chef. I could tell the chef was really passionate about his food. I can't wait to go again!
