   do not stay in this hotel i booked it for christmas and my dad past away i told the owner i could not make and i would like a refund i also spoke to booking.com and they said they would help as it was nobody’s fault i should get a full refund even sent in my dads death certificate the owner kept sending me round in circles even though i was nothing but nice to them i kindly asked for the refund towards my dads funeral he passed away suddenly so i need as much money towards his funeral i told the hotel that hailey said she would help with refund then a day before new years she said she will not be waiving this fee no help whatsoever absolutely disgusting they way i was treated kept my £320 and spoke to me awful saying i will not be giving a refund even though she did she would so i strongly advise you not to give your money to these people just incase something happens to you as they will not help and obviously don’t have a heart especially around christmas to

   Brilliant location, nice place, lovely staff and great range of beers. The hard working young girl behind the bar also did breakfast the following day, very pleasant and chatty. We stayed for a night out in York and will definitely book again. The included breakfast was exactly what was needed the day after a few drinks too many!!

   Had an absolutely amazing stay here over the weekend. Staff couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome, spacious room with a FANTASTIC shower, right in the centre of town as well which was perfect for us. Breakfast was included in the coatvof the room and was massive and so tasty! Would definitely stay again.

   Great pub and good entertainment and lovely rooms. Just had a two night break with a friend. Staff are so welcoming and the breakfasts are really good, this is the the second year have stayed here for a two night break. Good location for central york and the train station.

   For the location the price is good but the rooms do not look like the pics on the website. The breakfast is great though and is included. The gentleman who runs the downstairs in the morning is friendly/helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

   Went there for Sunday roast. Ordered 'small' roast beef and pork for partner. Full plate of great tasting meat, mash, honey glazed parsnips and massive Yorkshire pudding. Separate large bowl of veg. With a few more roasties would have been perfect. Still fantastic flavour and value and very helpful staff!

   Absolutely amazing lunch today. We had pork dinners and one veggie option and all of us left full and happy. Service was amazing. Claire couldn't do enough, making sure we had all the condiments we wanted/needed and even getting us extra gravy. Above and beyond. Definitely one of the best Sunday lunches I have had in york, and I have been trying a few lately!
