I booked a mot for my wife’s car. Although the car didn’t pass, the staff there carefully explained the issue. I came back a couple of days later having booked a retest. While I was waiting I could see that - even though they were busy - the centre manager was very helpful with other customers in explaining any work that was needed (or not needed) on their cars. They sorted out my retest efficiently and I was good to go. My compliments and thanks to the manager and the rest of the team.

I have been a loyal customer for the past 6-7 years, ever since I purchased my first car in the UK. Throughout this time, I have regularly used your services for both major and minor servicing, as well as MOTs. Unfortunately, my experiences have left me deeply disappointed, as it appears your pricing has become excessively high, and your service approach is not aligned with the best interests of your customers. For example, I have attached a screenshot for my 2025 MOT, which was failed by you but passed after repairs at three other garages following your assessments. Here are some specific concerns regarding the services I’ve received: MOT Fee: Although your MOT fee appears lower this year (£15.50 vs. £50 at other garages), the excessive repair costs offset any real savings. New Track Rod Replacement: You quoted £251.57, while other garages charged only £22.74 for the parts, with overall repairs included. Headlight Replacement: A staggering £1,153.93 for a headlight replacement, while I found the same repair at a local garage for £40. Tyres: After failing my MOT in 2024, you quoted £130 for a tyre replacement. However, I found the same brand and range for £89 at another garage. Brake Pads: During my first visit, I was charged £620 for brake pads, a service that typically costs £35-£40 elsewhere. While you offer a lifetime guarantee, I question the necessity of such a high charge. Clutch Repair: When I asked about a minor clutch fix, you quoted me £900 for a full replacement. To this day, the clutch is still functioning well, needing only a minor tweak. It is clear that your approach seems to be "replace, not repair," even for minor issues. Despite the number of garages you operate and your claims of qualified mechanics, your service appears to be more focused on inflating charges rather than providing honest, cost-effective repairs for customers. In addition to pricing concerns, I’ve also faced issues with appointments and unreliable service at your Acocks Green and Sheldon locations. The MOT retesting process, in particular, feels misleading, as customers are often pushed toward unnecessary repairs instead of fair and accurate re-evaluations. As a long-term customer, I expected transparency and fairness, but my trust in Halfords has significantly declined. Given my experiences, I will no longer consider Halfords my preferred garage. I urge you to reassess your pricing policies and service ethics to ensure they prioritize customer interests. I hope you take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements to restore customer trust. Until then, goodbye!!!!

I recently visited Halfords Auto Centre and I couldn’t be more impressed with the service I received. From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and professional. The manager, AHMED, went above and beyond to ensure that my car issue was diagnosed quickly and clearly. They took the time to explain what needed to be done and gave me a transparent breakdown of the costs—no hidden surprises. The work was completed promptly, and my car is now running perfectly. I also appreciated the regular updates I received throughout the process, which gave me peace of mind. The waiting area was comfortable and clean, making the whole experience even more pleasant. I highly recommend Halfords Auto Centre, especially under the excellent management of AHMED. Their level of service, attention to detail, and customer care are second to none. I’ll certainly be returning for all my future car maintenance needs!

Extremely Disappointing Service I recently took my car to Halfords Autocentre in Acocks Green for what was supposed to be a routine service. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share it with others. On Monday, October 30th, I dropped off my car at 8:30 am for a routine service. My car was in perfect condition, and I was simply trying to be a responsible owner. I left my keys with the manager and headed home, expecting a smooth service. However, at around 11:30 am, I received a call from someone at the garage, stating that they couldn't perform a full service because my car was "unsafe" to work on. I was baffled, as I had mentioned there was nothing wrong with my car when I booked the service. When I returned to the garage to pick up my car, the manager informed me that they couldn't perform the service and had initiated a full refund. That's when my troubles began. After starting my car, I noticed a significant issue with the clutch – it was soft, and I couldn't engage the 1st gear. The manager claimed they hadn't touched my car and hadn't performed a test drive. This was a blatant lie because I found my car in a different parking spot, indicating they had attempted to drive it. I even asked to speak with the technician, and after some delay and suspicious discussions, they both denied responsibility. I lodged a complaint, but the response has been painfully slow. I rely on my car for work and university, and the inconvenience has been immense. Despite my complaints, Halfords Autocentre hasn't taken responsibility for breaking my clutch and claims to be "investigating" the matter. The way they've handled this situation has been unprofessional and frustrating. I expected top-notch customer service, but all I've received is a runaround. I'm forced to spend on expensive taxis to get to work, and the lack of communication and slow resolution of the issue is deeply disappointing. I hope that sharing this experience will help others make an informed decision about using Halfords Autocentre in Acocks Green. My trust in their service has been severely shattered, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone in the future.

Booked in for a major service and MOT. Service completed and MOT passed. The service report was clearly laid out and picked up what I already knew that my front pads will soon need replacing and front wheel alignment needs looking at

While I can't fault the staff, the prices and suggestions are ludicrous. I was quoted £610 for all new pads and brake discs. This is after two last minute tyre replacements that cost £260 2 weeks prior. Took it to my local and sorted all the issues for £80. Again, nothing against the staff but Halfords as a company are pulling at straws with these prices in todays world. Madness.

All booked and paid for a half 8 drop off. Drove across Birmingham through rush hour to drop off to get told it's been canceled and they were going to phone in 5 mins to let me know. Then get told be another week before I get booked it.
