We congratulate those responsible for the food preparation in the TLC Restaurant of the RD&E Hospital. Whether roast beef & yorkshire pudding, wraps, scones, jam doughnuts, coffee - it was all so delicious and the quality far exceeded any food served at our hotel or nearby restaurants and cafés during a three week stay in Exeter to visit a family member who was an in-patient. Undoubtedly a huge asset for both hospital staff and visitors.

Attended A&E just before midnight a few days ago. The chap on reception was so superbly helpful regarding sorting parking for me as I'm 80 and with a cut leg oozing blood as I walked so couldn't walk far. Took all my initial stress away. I was assessed very quickly by a lovely chap and then referred to the waiting room with about 50 others. It was a really long wait of about 5 hours which I found to be gently distressing and then started treatment about 5am. Despite the unfortunate long wait the service from the staff was brilliant, smiling, efficient and communicative. It was like being with family. I cannot praise enough the staff I met that evening/morning at A&E without exception. And when you consider the staff were working through the night with a massive queue in the waiting room and were still smiling - absolutely brilliant. My only concern with A&E was the waiting time and that wasn't because of the staff who were constantly working through all my hours there. I'm guessing there is just a need for more staff on A&E throughout the night. I felt the need to write this review because despite the long wait (gently distressing) the lovely staff on that night gave a brilliant service with a homely welcome as well. It left me with a warm glow about our NHS.

Could t fault the A&E service here today, very impressed. Blood test ECG X-ray and ultrasound and all sorted in around 3 hours - all staff we’re lovely, everything high tech and very efficient.

All staff of every grade we have encountered over the last 3 weeks are friendly, helpful, patient and go out of their way to make patients feel comfortable and that they are receiving the best care they can give. I cannot fault one person we have had contact with. An excellent service from all staff. This includes emergency ambulance and patient transport staff.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff of the A&E department. I was tripped up on Christmas Eve and smashed my face into the floor. Thank God a wonderful off duty paramedic Chris came to my assistance in the shop. The staff in A&E were exceptionally efficient and caring. Every member of staff dealt with everyone with patient and curtesy. I am deeply grateful.

I am a builder and fell off a ladder last Friday hitting the ground face and shoulder first. The paramedic, the Ambulance staff and Everyone in the hospital who dealt with me were superb, CT scan, X-rays, stitches, all done on a Friday night with care and efficiency. Less impressed with the behaviour of some of the patients but all NHS staff who looked after me were BRILLIANT. Many many thanks!

Its not often I give out reviews but honestly this one was important as I don’t think people realise that when the chips are down the NHS raises it head and takes full accountability. Over the last few weeks, I have witnessed staff across the NHS being under tremendous pressure. I saw Staff working hard from minute to minute, hour by hour, to make sure that we as patients were looked after of which I am immensely grateful. I think we have come to expect that the NHS staff will go the extra mile with no Gratitude however I would like to say to all the staff at the Royal Devon Exeter Hospital that you were amazing, the care was superb, Every member of staff in the Abbey and in the Otter ward I came into contact with were professional and helpful. Absolutely amazed at the level of care in this hospital. Highly skilled Surgeon and Clinician with Excellent communication skills, approachable, informative, and friendly. Well done Royal Devon and Exeter you are doing an amazing job and should have your names in lights. Gaynor

Odd to say that I liked a hospital but just to say that we had a good experience & great care today. A friendly person greets you on arrival & gives easy to follow directions to the relevant ward / treatment area. The receptionist was also very helpful. I killed time having breakfast in their "Oasis" restaurant on the 2nd floor & later in their "Savour Cafe" on the ground floor, close to the main entrance. I only took photos of those 2 places. All areas were very clean & most visitors wore masks in public areas. NB if you have a Blue Badge you show this to any receptionist & they authorise all day free parking. Also, if you need to catch a bus into town, these are only every 30 mins. Also, they don't offer return fares so you have to buy a £4.50 day rider ticket.
