   I went into this pub under mild protest, purely because there’s a very large warning sign outside confirming it’s a Greene King pub. Normally, that alone would be enough to make me keep walking. However, I was switching buses at Sheffield Interchange, had about half an hour to kill, and figured I’d risk it for a quick drink. From the outside, this place genuinely looks like it belongs in a Sheffield-based post-apocalyptic drama — specifically Threads. It has real “nuclear aftermath chic” energy. It is, without exaggeration, possibly the ugliest pub exterior I’ve ever seen. The sort of building that makes you expect ash in the air and sirens in the distance. I fully expected the inside to match. And yet… I was actually pleasantly surprised. Inside, it’s clean, well-presented, and shockingly quite nice. Especially for a Greene King, which are usually unimaginably dull, beige, and completely devoid of atmosphere. This one, weirdly, had a bit of charm. Credit where it’s due — the interior is genuinely decent. Unfortunately, then came the service. I originally went in fully intending to have a proper pint. However, because it took them over 15 minutes just to serve me, I ended up ordering only a half, purely because I simply wouldn’t have had time to drink a full one. There was only one member of staff working the bar in a busy city centre pub, which is frankly ridiculous. Another staff member did appear partway through my wait, but instead of speeding anything up, she somehow managed to get in the way and slow everything down even further. I’ve honestly never experienced service this slow or unaccommodating in a pub before. The place itself has a slight vibe of the Jockey from Shameless — but cleaner, a bit more civilised, and with far less shouting. It’s definitely an interesting pub, and the inside is far better than the outside suggests… but the service was so spectacularly diabolical that I can’t see myself going back. Interior: pleasantly surprised. Exterior: nuclear wasteland chic. Service: utterly diabolical.

   Comfortable pub, great for watching sport with quite a few different seating areas and screens. Friendly manager but no real ale.

   This little pub with grub is right outside the bus station. We popped in to have a cuppa and shelter from the rain, but the menu looked good, so we stayed. I can't recommend it enough. I had a burger, my son a steak and partner wanted gammon. As there wasn't any, he asked for bacon and was given a lion's share. All the food was excellent. The guy behind the bar and the chef were both very pleasant. 10/10.

   Grimm. Had breakfast eggs looked like they had been cracked onto plate hash browns looked defrostet not cooked. Friendly staff is the only reason for two star instead of one
