   Came for a late Sunday lunch. The bar staff were not welcoming and stand-offish from the start. Many menu options were no longer available and the communication about this was poor. The food was alright, but I would recommend going to one of the many other pubs in Bakewell.

   Group of ten of us for a late lunch on a Sunday. Some menu options had run out, which is understandable - the place was very busy. Overall the food was very good and the staff were absolutely lovely. The Castle has a great 'local pub' feel, even though it is part of a large group. I did have a payment issue, caused by me, and I found both the Castle Inn staff and the corporate customer service people very helpful and effective at resolving things. Great service from friendly and caring people.

   We had the 'Hassop' double room which was nice and big with a very large bed. The room was on the first floor overlooking the beer garden which was fine. Little to no noise from it at bed time. Didn't eat here but did have drinks in the bar on a couple of nights. The staff were efficient and friendly. Free parking is a bonus.

   The bad bit first, my steak was the worst I've ever eaten as it was two third gristle and fat, the chips and sides were delicious as was my wife's meal a lovely burger and rosemary fries etc. The bar staff were lovely and did a lovely presented gin.Its cosy and warm. I will visit again as it may have been just a gammy steak which was delivered..

   Perfect traditional English pub. Great food (steak and ale pie, chicken ham pie, sausage and mash, etc) we had a great meal and it was fun having a regular pull out his darts and start throwing them while chatting with the other locals. Really nice place.

   Awful experience today at the Castle. Booked for a family Christmas meal, incl small dog, they are a dog friendly pub. After arrival 2 members of staff said "no dogs on the carpet" We were allocated in the carpeted area by them! No apology, or solution offered, until we asked for another table. Not the way to treat customers. We will not return!

   Popped in for Sunday lunch with my husband, daughter and her boyfriend. Not usually a fan of green king from previous experiences but have got to say we were all very impressed. We all had the Sunday roast lunch, the best I’ve had in ages and very generous to. We are already planning to return with friends.

   I ordered the sausage and mash it came in speedy time. Very hot and was nice only thing that disappointed me was I ordered a cup of tea (Monday lunch) but was told no hot drinks until tomorrow?? (Tuesday) really so no one working there couldn't slip the kettle on and add a tea bag to a pot or mug. (Not many people in the pub at the time) so little disappointed
