Roxanne was absolute star of a host, very accommodating to us tired and smelly walkers. The pub is a charm, great beer and one of the best homemade steak and ale pies EVER! TBH just go for the pies you'll not be disappointed. If you're walking the Pennine Way this is a must stop for tired limbs.
We recently went on a Sunday for lunch. It was amazing. The value for money and quality by far exceeded anything we have available to us local. The staff were lovely and I liked that there were games available to play and fresh flowers on the tables. We’ve long searched for a proper country pub with homemade food and this is now our firm favourite. We will be back very soon!
Excellent pub. The food was fantastic. My wife had the best Sunday roast ever and the rag pudding was to die for. All food is very reasonably priced but I would gladly pay more! Service was excellent
Lovely, small hotel. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Nice pub too, Excellent breakfast. We stayed one night for the standedge tunnel canoe trip. Stayed here on Friday night and then the owner gave us a lift to marsden on sat morning to join the canoe trip. Diggle end of the tunnel is 200m from the hotel. Recommended.
Tuesday lunchtime - empty, cold, smelt of wet dog, no veggie/vegan food. BUT the staff were very helpful and directed us to another local place. This was our third attempt to find a Saddleworth pub that did cater for 'minorities' - it looks as though places in the area need to rethink their menus.
Very pleasant Landlady, good ales well kept. Very clean and cosy. Enjoyed by lots of fell walkers. Well worth a visit. Didn't eat or stay here but talking to people who have it's very good and reasonably priced.
The best pub. More heartfelt, welcoming and warm as you'll find anywhere in an area that prides itself on kindness.
You won't find a warmer welcome than at The Diggle Hotel. Wonderful friendly team and the food was the best 'pub grub' I've ever had. Beautifully home cooked and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this wonderful place whether you need a friendly pint, delicious food or a charming hotel.
