stopped one night. nothing not to like other than it's a bit out on a limb. that said there are 2 other places within easy walk too. real ales on the bar, on-site [very good] indian restaurant. Room clean and nice decor. Steep steps to rooms, not suitable for anyone with poor mobility. Would recommend and will return.

Slept there one night after our first day on the Pennine Way. Nice room with a large bed (up two stairs), nice food and drinks in the pub. Breakfast was good, staff was friendly and helpful.

Eight of us went for a meal upstairs here at the Indian restaurant. We all left full and very happy and even two of us had a doggy bag. From when we arrived we had a good time, good choice of drinks available, we sat and chatted for a short while, landlords came to say hello and before we knew it, it was time to head upstairs to our table. They already had a larger table in who were tucking into food that smelled great. We were given menus and left to peruse. Once we had all ordered the food didn’t take to long to come out and myself and partner had a sharing platter which was incredible. Portion sizes were good and I don’t think we had an unclear plate between us. One of the guests ordered all their food without coriander and they were great at adhering to this. The main courses also did not disappoint, we had a good selection of a chicken tikka masala and chicken curry to the more spicy dishes of a vindaloo. The rice and naan’s were also good and the cost was not too bad either. I would recommend this place for a nice curry if you are partial to the Indian cuisine. Staff were friendly, child friendly too as we had a 7 year old with us. My only criticism I can give, is having to go downstairs for drinks but it didn’t hinder our experience as we just timed it right between courses.

Stayed here with my partner and our dog. Loved the place. Room was big and spotlessly clean, breakfast was perfect and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Loved the pub downstairs. No food was being served other than breakfast when we stayed. We tried the Indian upstairs which was lovely and also ate at the bulls heads just up the road. We will be back.

I would avoid this Pub at all costs, we visited today and the young girls working there are treated so badly, I was told they encourage young girls to work there for a trial, don’t pay them and then tell them there’s now work. Male staff are very inappropriate, if you ah em kids or young teens avoid this place!!

What a great stay I had there. The room was lovely even tho was above a busy pub with live music the room was very peaceful and I almost didn't hear a thing, it's really good sound proof.

Very cost. We Visited on a Tuesday, there was an acoustic folk gathering that night, which was nice if it's your thing and quiet enough that it's not disturbing anyone if it's not your thing. The young man behind the bar was very friendly and engaging.

Room was really nice and clean however due to the bands playing late at night the people outside the pub was really noisy until 2am in the the morning. Had very little sleep and upon arriving at the hotel we was told there was no food but to try the sister pub up the hill. Arrived at the sister pub to be told we should have booked and the only food options was Greek salads and drinks.the noise from the main and other room doors is also constant all night.
