Booked hotel and spa plus treatments in November; (Β£500+) all on the website. Website was really difficult to use and not very clear; and booking took a long time. Only received confirmation for the hotel stay at the time and so assumed we would hear back from the spa. We didn’t hear back for weeks and so I called up the spa separately and they had told me they had my booking and cancelled, and so they didn’t bother to contact me. The hold time was 45 minutes on the call and when they answered the phone service was really poor, I requested for the the massages and spa access for two; and the call service kept cutting but we eventually got there in the end (gave card details multiple times due to service). Finally got a confirmation confirming our treatments I have now arrived at the hotel and have been told we do not have spa access, only treatments booked; despite on the phone asking for spa access alongside the massages. We booked the place for the sole purpose of the spa and have essentially been told we have paid Β£500 for just a hotel and two treatments. We have been told to keep walking to the spa to see if a spot opens up; despite them cancelling our original booking and not correctly booking our second booking (only treatments). Although the receptionist and spa peoeple have been kind, the service across the website, lack of confirmation emails, the treatment confirmation email not mentioning spa access; booking for wrong service; it’s been very poor. Not worth the money, very stressful, poor booking system; try other spa resorts, this one is not relaxing. Spent this whole stay so far back and forth between the spa, on hold to customer service and emailing and attempting to use their poor website to chat to a robot. Will be requesting a refund.

All style and no substance. We used the spa and had lunch. We were told this was one of the best spa's in the country. But there were no beds by any of the pools, by the time we got one it was soaking wet (very relaxing). The pool was freezing and the hot tub was just about warm. Lunch was where it all went wrong, a portion of sea bass is apparently half a filet, that's a quarter of a fish, it was about the length of my index finger. And that seems to be the story of this place, everything is insanely expensive, but you get very little for it. An extra fiver for bread? Six quid to swap chicken for fish? Ten pounds added to your bill for a 6oz rump steak, the smallest size of the cheapest cut and you get charged extra for it. If you're going to ride off this "best spa in the country" then you have to understand that this comes with certain expectations. My girlfriend summed our day up perfectly..... It was fine.

Had an absolutely brilliant day at Champneys Health Club at Mottram Hall. Me and my friend came for a much-needed break and the whole experience felt calm, friendly and really well looked after from the moment we arrived. The reception staff were genuinely lovely warm welcome, clear guidance, and just a really nice energy to start the day with. A special shoutout to Joel from the gym, who was great to chat to and honestly went above and beyond. He even gave us a lift over to the restaurant for lunch in the golf buggy, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the day feel that bit more fun. Also want to mention the lady doing the pool tests throughout the day she was so pleasant, friendly, and just brought a good vibe every time she passed by. Really appreciated the light, easy conversation and how upbeat she was despite being in and out all afternoon. All in all, a fantastic experience. We left feeling relaxed, cared for, and already talking about when to come back. Highly recommend. Warmly, Chris

We booked a spa break in Mottram hall for our anniversary. We enjoyed the facilities, had a great time in the spa and pools. We had a massage done and it was quite disappointing. The atmosphere was relaxing but the therapists were not the best masseuses unfortunately. The spa was well kept and we had an enjoyable time using it. The staff was very cordial and helpful in helping us find our way. Lunch was good. I had the gnocchi (it was tasty and balanced) and my partner had the shrimp rigatoni (pasta was over cooked and the quality of the dish did not match the price). The trout rillette for starters was delicious. The baked apple for dessert, not so much. Dinner was the most disappointing for us. We had the burger and the fish of the day (salmon). The meat patty was of very poor quality and didn’t taste nice. The fish was good but the vegetables it came with were bland and in piece too big. Dessert was way too sweet to be eaten full. Only good thing was the starter : cheese soufflΓ©, very very tasty. Although food was disappointing, the service was excellent. The staff was very accommodating. The room was okay, it was clean. Because we were coming for our anniversary we even got a gift from the Mottram team which was highly appreciated. What a thoughtful thing to do! Thank you. Overall, we had a good time and would come back. There is room for improvement in the massage and food areas.

Fantastic venue. We had a 2 day golf event here. The course and facilities were fantastic. The breakfast was great and the evening meal very good. It has a separate area for the golfers to eat and drink which overlooks the gold course (although breakfast area is shared with the hotel). A few used the spa area which they said was very nice. Service was good.

The hotel is very nice and the staff are lovely. We stayed for three nights on a full board package and were disappointed that the lunchtime menu was the same each day and the evening menu was the same each day. The food was good but we felt that it would be an improvement to have at least two, possibly three, menus and rotate them to give a bit more variety. It would be more interesting for the kitchen staff too.

Everything was wonderful. The staff was a delight, Laura in the spa could not have been more helpful and pleasant if she tried, Christian the GM was so kind and welcoming and the staff in the restaurants went above and beyond. The property was beautiful and I left with the commitment to return as soon as possible. I 100% recommend staying at Mottram Hall and enjoying everything they have to offer. Wonderful property, amazing food, incredible staff and overall fantastic experience. A massive thank you to everyone at Mottram, I will be back!

This hotel is not clean, I would AVOID like the plague that’s probably still there!!! I had to move rooms on arrival as our shower head had mould on it. The room we were moved to was nicer( the previous room was dark and cold and just had an awful vibe)however the pillows in the room were stained and I woke up with a rash on my back. I suspect they don’t change sheets unless there is a massive stain. Not really hygienic :/ The spa facilities are nice and clean, so if your going I would avoid staying overnight and just enjoy the spa. The staff…. The young girls in the lunch restaurant were extremely rude, eye rolling, unhelpful, just very unwelcoming. The staff in the dinner restaurant honestly had no clue, I was given a glass with lipstick stains and asked for a new one and got one with more lipstick stains?? Not sure if it was on purpose or just a complete lack of awareness from the staff member. The food… the meat is very nice and fresh! The veg also good. But the breakfast was DISGUSTING, I couldn’t even have a whole mouthful the eggs tasted like gone of sawdust. Very confusing as there are farms right next door where fresh eggs could be sourced instead of the cardboard stuff they feed. I will not be returning and would advise anyone to cut your loses and go somewhere else. Very disappointed was looking forward to my trip for months.

Booked a spa day for a birthday present Lovely spa: clean and relaxed. Sadly no jacuzzi or steam room and sauna doors would be better if they stayed shut. But facilities were still lovely. The food at Rafaela's was delicious with good flavours and the right amount. The treatments seemed a bit "get you in and out" but were still pleasant.

Could not produce a final account and we were a group of 16! Just seemed to think up a number of Β£1000 for dinner. Corporate day Sunday which meant we could not go into the bar for anything after our golf game. Had to go across to the Spa to get a coffee. The golf course was excellent. We were not allowed extra buggies due to corporate day.
