Helpless and stranded on a Saturday, when our alternator belt snapped during a 250 mile journey north to south. The car failed at Edwinstowe, but destiny smiled when a passer-by mentioned this garage in the village. Abandoning the car beside the garage with an explanatory note, Central Garage replaced two belts when they reopened on Monday. Not only that, but they identified and rectified a problem our usual mechanic had not noticed. The price was reasonable. I would be happy to have Central Garage as my garage if I lived nearby.

I have used central garage since it was taken over 5 years ago and I can’t fault the service. They are always very busy but I always get great service and feel confident with the work done. I never feel pressured into doing work that isn’t essential if I need to budget in the future for it and I always feel able to ask questions and discuss despite them being very busy. Again this week I needed to use them and was able to drop a wheel off to have a new tyre put on around work.

Took my car here for repairs. Within minutes of driving away, same grinding metal noise it originally went in for, so I went straight back. I was told the car had been thoroughly checked and was definitely safe for my upcoming long journey. The next day, my car went into limp mode with engine light on, which occurs automatically when there is a fault. I couldn't drive it and it was far from safe, so had to hire a car for my journey. The owner of the garage just commented saying the work they had done, would not cause the engine light to come on. Yes, they may all be friendly but they certainly don't want to remedy their shoddy work and are happy to take the money. I was quoted £238 on the phone, which became £325 when I collected the car, plus the extra £185 to now hire a car. So much stress and upset, so would sadly not recommend or use again. Last year I had my heater motor replaced and the dash had to be removed. My wheel locking nut was kept in the glove compartment. When I went to get new tyres, the locking nut was missing. I had to buy a new one from the dealership. Central Garage of course said they hadn't lost it but had emptied the glove compartment. The heater makes an awful noise when on.

Having moved to the village in the last three months, and leaving my mechanic of 25 years too far away to travel, it was with some trepidation I called Central Garage. I needed my cambelt and waterpump replacing (long overdue), and was quoted a fair price for the work. Dropped the car off just after 0830, and picked up at 1600 (my choice as I work from home and had a gap in my diary), although the car was ready earlier. Nice and polite chaps in the garage to speak to. I've now booked in for the MOT and service, so Central Garage now has a new long term customer. Thankyou!

Our exhaust fell off on the way to our holiday and we found Central Garage on Google. We rang them and they were so helpful, delivered the car to them late that day and it was done by 9am the following morning. They could have charged us anything as we were so desperate and had no choice but the price was so reasonable! Thank you, Central Garage!

Always felt I could trust this garage, they're always busy and have made an effort to fit me in during my short time at home. This would be a 5* review, they gave a time appreciation and under promised and over delivered, a rare quality in modern times. This could potentially be a 1* review as the symptom still persist, which tells me fault has not been corrected. I'm not totally clueless as to how cars work, I appreciate that the fault could be something different, hence the middle of the road review. I will be emailing Central Garage as I'm certain they will amend any other mechanical issues. I hope it is something different, which will cost me more, but then you can't put a price on a trusty mechanic. As opposed to the original problem having not being resolved first time around. UPDATE: So upon my return from working away and getting the car back on the road, the car was out in for an MOT and the staff at the garage remembered the car and the details from roughly 3 months ago. I explained that the car had indeed still got a problem with a blowing exhaust, it then did fail its MOT on emissions. However, the gasket they had repaired was not the failing part but a small hole in a weld further along the exhaust, to which the welded up free of charge and put the car back through its MOT, free of charge. This is exactly the kind of service I expect from a top notch garage. As above, I said that I hoped it was a different problem as doubting this garages work is a no-no. Not only did they rectify the problem, they provided a solution if it does develop into something more serious. If it does develop into an O2 sensor issue, you can be certain I will be returning to this garage. They know my car, they do good work and have always managed to make time due to the nature of my work meaning it can be a little last minute. I don't give out 5 stars easily but in this case, it reflects the garage in their work and their interaction reference explaining what has been done etc. I'd like to wish the lads at central garage a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, hopefully, I won't be seeing them too soon! (I like my car when it works properly.) P.S. Central Garage do not have access to respond to reviews etc on google, the explained that this was why they couldn't respond to my review and organise a follow-up when it became apparent the work hadn't resolved the issue. They are able to respond on Facebook etc.

Highly recommended! Our family were on holiday, staying for a few days at the nearby Forest Holidays site, when our Qashqai started running roughly and the engine warning light came on. After being turned down by several other local garages (including the Nissan Mansfield main dealership...), Central Garage was recommended to us and - to my relief - they agreed to look at the car straightaway. The fault was quickly diagnosed, the job was honestly quoted, parts were ordered and the car was then fixed and delivered back to us all on the same day. I cannot thank them enough for their help - I was not relishing having to nurse the car back for the 120 mile journey home!
