We visited the zoo yesterday with the kids for an after-Christmas walk and to see how the zoo has changed over the past few years since our last visit. We knew that, due to the season, we might miss seeing some animals, but we still thought it would be nice to come along. We managed to see a lot of animals, although some were not there, such as the hippos and the red panda. Many of the animals we did see looked sleepy, which is understandable given the season, and a few appeared a bit underweight to us. The ticket prices are quite high, but we understand this is likely due to the costs of running the zoo and providing the best possible care for the animals. The reason for the 4⭐ rating is mainly the butterfly area, there were not as many butterflies as there used to be, and the ones we saw didn’t look very healthy. Overall, we enjoyed every minute of the visit. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see these animals and, most importantly, for taking care of them.

Lovely zoo with friendly staff, located near London. It has good wheelchair and pushchair access as it has good paths and you can hire mobility scooters. In winter it can muddy, so dress appropriately for the weather. It can be expensive, so you might want to bring a pack lunch, especially as their isnt much food on offer in the cafe; just some sandwiches, fruit, chocolate and crisps. The zoo has a wide range of animals and is split into sections, making it easier to find animals. It also has a railway and you can drive around parts of the zoo.

My recent visit to Whipsnade Zoo was fantastic! We were lucky that it wasn't too busy, which made for a relaxed experience, and we managed to see almost all the animals. Highlights & Animals Despite it being a bit too cold (even though the sun was out!), the zoo had clearly managed this well, with some animals housed comfortably indoors. The definite highlight for me was seeing the baby giraffeβ€”absolutely adorable! Visitor Information Size and Walking: Be prepared for a good workout! The zoo area is quite big, so you'll be doing a lot of walking, but it’s worth it to explore everything. Family-Friendly: There are interactive bits for kids dotted around, making it a great day out for families. Food and Amenities: The cafe area was a welcome break, and the food was good. Shopping: The gift shop is stocked with lots of options, particularly a great selection of stuffed animals! Parking: A huge bonusβ€”there is free parking just outside the zoo. Overall, a beautiful, well-maintained zoo perfect for a day trip. Highly recommend!

We had a really nice day out, lots of animals to see. It’s a massive zoo so lots of walking to the different enclosures, you can pay extra to take your car through & park up in some areas (it’s not a safari zoo though). Quite a few volunteers dotted about in some enclosures so it was nice being able to talk to someone & hear information about certain animals there. Highly recommend for a day out

First time visiting, absolutely loved it, an amazing day. The enclosures were lovely and spacious, all areas lovely and clean, staff we spoke to were so helpful. We had afternoon tea at view point, which was lovely and the staff really friendly. The day was just brilliant, would highly recommend a visit.

A great day out for couples! Plenty of space for a picnic or for a rest in general during sunny and warm days in between of walking around. Plenty to see- you need at least 8h to be able to see everything properly. I would suggest leaving early. There's plenty of free parking. There’s an option to convert your ticket to a membership for a low fee and then you can get more for your money if you like going to Zoo more then once a year.

Adore this Zoo. My little girl absolutely loves going here. Something new to see every time as you can never see it all in one day. The park is fantastic! So much to do for all ages there. Very well thought out and places. Train rides are fantastic, but are at an extra cost. We have annual passes, which if you are local I would recommend, as you only need to go a few times to have more than made your money. I got my partner the Giraffe experience for his birthday and it was amazing. He loved it so much! A bit pricey, but so worth it.

A great day out for all the family. Plenty of space for a picnic or for the kids to run around in between visiting all the animals, a great place for a walk and the animals all look very healthy and well looked after. There's plenty of free parking opposite the zoo as well, combined with ZSL membership for a very low cost day out.

Great family day out, lots to explore. You feel like you can freely explore whichever animal you wish to see first there is no set route. You can get quite close to a lot of them. The butterfly and aquarium are brilliant. Lots of refreshments and food options available.

Whipsnade Zoo is a really brilliant place to spend a day, lots to see and do. Highly recommend a visit. I went on the Elephant experience which was superb again highly recommend booking this informative experience especially if you love Elephants like I do. We opted to pay for driving the car around which was great and made getting around so easy especially for people with mobility issues as it is a big place to walk around with so much to see that having the car really helped. The views around the Zoo are beautiful. If you want a fun and interesting day out go to the Zoo. A baby elephant due anytime so that will be lovely to see when baby arrives.
