    I live local and I popped into wickes perry Barr today 17/12/25 to exchange an unopened undamaged roll of chicken wire as I had mistakenly bought the wrong sized mesh and it was a simple exchange for the correct sized mesh( I had my debit card in case of any price difference ) and was told "sorry, you bought the roll in error just over a month ago so we will not exchange it as it's over a month and it's our new policy". I could tell by the attitude of the jobsworth that I wasn't going to get anywhere with this. But why not? The roll of chicken wire was unopened and undamaged and covered in the Wickes name and the simple swap wouldn't have cost Wickes a penny and it would've resulted in a continually happy regular customer. Over the years I have spent hundreds of pounds on Wickes products. I will have to give my expensive unwanted roll of chicken wire to the rag and bone man

    I’m really disappointed with my recent visit to the Wickes in Perry Barr. In my experience, the staff were incredibly rude and completely unapproachable. Instead of offering basic customer service, they acted as though helping customers was an inconvenience. What bothered me most was overhearing employees laughing and mocking a customer’s accent. Whether they meant it as a joke or not, it came across as unprofessional and disrespectful. No customer should feel belittled or laughed at in a store. Overall, my experience at this location was far below acceptable. Wickes seriously needs to address the attitude and behaviour of some of the employees at this branch.

    Ordered some kitchen plinths from here a couple of weeks ago and they came this week all damaged. Spoke to Deborah and was advised that I can’t get a refund only an exchange. Called customer services and they said they’re not sure why she’s saying that as I’m entitled to a refund if the plinths have come damaged. Called Deborah again and she was saying the same thing and asking “why don’t you want them exchanged?” She also mentioned she spoke to her manager which I think is the store manager and was advised that I can’t get a refund only an exchange. Called customer services again and they called the Perry Barr store for me and spoke to either Tina or Deborah and they said they told me that they said they can refund me. They also said the manager said the same thing. Really unprofessional from them to make things up as I had to keep going back and forth to eventually get this sorted out. Also being told now that I have to come in my own car and drop the plinths off to the store when I got them delivered to my house. The 2.6m plinth won’t also fit in my car. Really unprofessional from the design team and the manager or store manager to make things up. Thankfully I paid on my credit card so if the store refused to refund me I could claim a chargeback through my bank as the order came damaged. Update: I have called the Perry Barr store and they are still refusing a refund and want to see the items and want me to bring in them myself when I got it delivered. I have asked them to arrange collection and I’ll happily give them back. One of the plinths is 2.6m long which won’t fit in my car. I was told I need to speak to the store manager re this. When I also called just now Karen hung the phone up on me while I was speaking and then when I called back said I didn’t do that and the line went quiet so I hung up. I have raised a complaint about this through the Wickes website. Also I seen the notes that Deborah has put on my case and she has put down “I have declined the refund because the customer has swapped the plinths for damaged plinths”. She had not even seen the photos I sent across at this point when writing this as I sent it after that phone call, this has annoyed me because she is accusing me for something I have not done without even inspecting the plinths face to face or even looking at the pictures. I have wrote all these things down in my complaint. It’s a shame that one staff is damaging the reputation of all the Wickes stores around the country as me and my family won’t be shopping here anymore we’ll be going to B&Q from now on. I would rate this a 0/5 if google allowed me to.

    Really nice store. Very spacious. Everything organised. Needed some architraves. Manager took me to the section, worked out how much I needed and gave me exact amount. Theres plenty of parking outside and also the odd clearance and bargains.

    WORST WICKES store ever, stuff is rude, not helpful and make you wait hours and hours. Because of their incompetence I was issued a parking fine for overstaying by 13 minutes in their ridiculous parking. A parking fine for shopping at their store. NEVER IN MY LIFE I WILL EVER SHOP AT WICKES AGAIN! This is Ridiculous!

    Beware from scam & Avoid / parking ticket for their mistake. I went to store and did shopping more than £400 but they mixed my order. Because they don’t keep sockets on shelf now a day, they just keep stickers. I took some sticker and wrote the quantity on them and take it to till, she called her colleague for items but they mixed my order and charged for all stuff what I asked and put in bag. But when I was putting my stuff in car boot I checked it and noticed, instead of usb sockets she gave me normal sockets. I went back and asked her for original order then she again called her colleague for corrections. He said he’s going to get it and he come back after some time and said I don’t have exact qualities as I requested. I asked him to give me what you got he went back again and come back with few right items. They took half hour to do all this by that time my parking time gone over the limit. I asked the staff for this they said wait manager in meeting and during this time shift changed and second till operator start asking me for receipt of my purchase, I showed him then he ring his manager and said to me leave your car reg details with me my manager said he will sort it out later. When I reached home and checked my receipt I noticed they charged me for pack of 10 for wire channels twice instead of two separate pieces I called them and they advised me to come back to store. I went back next morning to get my refund for extra charge and asked them again for parking issue and staff said don’t worry manager will sort this out or if you get ticket bring it to store and we will sort it out. But they didn’t sort out and I got parking fine ticket for their mistake and When I received ticket I took it to wicks perry Barr they refused to help they said I need to deal with this issue they can’t do anything. In one year i did more £2000 shopping from them but not anymore now. What a useless people they are, I will never do shopping from them in future and I nor I will advise to anyone. Beware from their scam.

    This is a hard one because in fairness it’s never really a pleasure purchase, it either means something is broken or is yet another DIY project, one thing I like about the wickes stores is the space it’s amazing what you can do when you stand back and see what’s on the shelves actually easy to find what you’re looking for As sometimes you might be looking for an hack of two or three products to come up with a unique solution. Staff always pleasant as normal
