   We called in here for lunch with our son and grandson the food was lovely and service was quick. We had 4 meals 2 × burgers 1 steak and 1 crispy chicken wrap all served with chips, 3 soft drinks 1 pint beer and the total cost was under £70. I would imagine it gets very busy in summer as there is a large outdoor play area

   Bit of an odd place - barmaid more interested in chatting to friends/current customers than actually taking a drink order. Drinks reasonably priced, did not eat here due to needing to leave early. Lots of older men, clearly a “local pub only”, not welcoming for non locals, hills have eyes springs to mind Had to leave early, the field where the outdoor seating is, where the children’s play area is, is covered in dog poo, all 4 of us are covered in it, it may not be the pubs fault, but it’s not hard to check the field before they open Toilets are filthy and smell horrendous Very disappointed. Will not be back, what a filthy place. Spend your money elsewhere, there’s plenty of better places in Burscough Edited to add: Thanks so much for your reply. This review, is genuine feedback. Like I said in the review, the dog mess is perhaps not the pubs fault, but is it that difficult to walk outside and give a once over before opening? I also did not see any signs - so definitely not “clear signage”, although I agree the issue is irresponsible dog owners, but surely does not change the issue of the pubs land the pub’s responsibility to maintain a clean environment for people/families/children to eat and drink outside without the health and safety risk of dog excrement everywhere The “older clientele” was far more than average or expected, it was uncomfortable and clearly a pub for locals. What a patronising reply regarding loneliness, I have nothing against older guests, playing on heart strings does not detract from the facts of, it was an awkward environment to walk into In regard to welcoming, I’d suggest a word with your front of house. The toilets are vile. In need of a refurb and a decent clean. I am sorry you do not appreciate this review - hopefully this will help you to improve your hygiene standards in future

   We held our mums wake at the Bull and Dog this week. Bar staff were friendly and efficient. The area was ideal for our group of 35. The buffet was excellent , well presented and kept warm. 3 vegetarians in our group were full of praise for their meals. Our chosen playlist was piped into the area. Thank you to Keith and his team for making this event very special for the family.

   Gorgeous little pub we went to yesterday for lunch and they are dog friendly too! Me and my partner had fish and chips & a burger for lunch was lovely food! We took our dalmatian with us who loved it too! He even got to have a sausage. The staff are lovely & friendly the manager even took our dalmatian in the beer garden for a sniff about for us while we enjoyed the rest of our meal. Thank you again highly recommended!

   Went here for the first time last night with my colleagues for a leaving do. Great pub on the outskirts of Burscough with friendly and professional staff, excellent food (I had the scampi for main and the Biscoff sundae for dessert) and a lovely beer garden :) Plus you get a pager that goes off when your meal is ready. Highly recommended!

   Fantastic place to eat and have a pint came for a Sunday roast the staff are so friendly nothing is too much for them even demanding kids. The lamb was cooked to perfection, potatoes soft and fluffy inside it all just melts in your mouth. The portions really generous too. There is a well equipped outdoor seating area with a playground for kids and mini football pitch. All round great place for the family would highly recommend this place if you are in the area or passing through. Very cosy with modern decor but not over the top gives this place a homely feel.
