   I visited Jewsons in Newark this morning to order some concrete slabs that they list on their website. I was told there were none in stock (fair enough) and no means of back-ordering them or transferring them from another branch that had them in stock. I was told I'd have to drive to a branch in Scotland if I wanted them. How bizarre?! Next I ordered and paid for some bags of ballast, pretty standard builders merchant stuff. I proceeded to the yard to collect these, only then to be told they were out of stock. They should have hundreds of these in stock, they don't go out of date! "Steve" from the office then came out and offered to shovel from their bulk pile into individual bags, which was a kind gesture. One bag split (not his fault) and has left a mess in my car. I was left utterly bewildered at the complete lack of professionalism from the business as a whole. If you're reading this - go to Turnbulls instead, they are the polar opposite.
