Great service, good coffee and festive hot chocolate and panini that we enjoyed.

A Truly Exceptional Coffee shop Experience. I’ve been a regular at this coffee shop for a while now, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. From the moment I walk through the door, I’m greeted with a warmth that feels genuine and effortless. The manager sets the tone—always welcoming, attentive, and truly committed to creating a space where everyone feels at home. It’s rare to find someone who remembers your preferences, checks in with a smile, and treats every customer with the same care and respect. The team here is just as remarkable. Their energy brings the whole place to life—friendly, upbeat, and always ready to go the extra mile, whether it’s recommending something new or making sure your order is perfect. You can tell they enjoy working together, and that camaraderie creates an atmosphere that simply sparks with positivity. Of course, the coffee is fantastic—consistently rich, smooth, and clearly crafted with pride—but it’s the people who make this place truly special. It’s more than just a coffee stop; it’s a little pocket of comfort in my daily routine. If you’re looking for great coffee, great service, and a genuinely uplifting environment, this is the place. Highly recommended.

I visit this branch regularly and can say that the quality of the coffee and service is outstanding. The staff are polite, attentive and always inclusive. Congratulations to James and his team for going out of their way to try and get it right every time; I recognise cannot be easy when dealing with rude and entitled customers.

As a Black woman visiting from abroad, I have had several deeply uncomfortable experiences at Café Nero in Coulsdon with the manager. On multiple occasions, he refused to serve me, refused to greet me but would go out of his way to greet white customers, and even walked around me in a way that made me feel like I was being treated as less than human. His behaviour was demeaning, disrespectful, and unacceptable. I raised this issue directly with Café Nero, but my concerns were not taken seriously. This makes me feel that the problem is not just with one manager but is reflective of a wider organisational culture that does not value inclusivity or respect for Black customers. No person, regardless of race, gender, or background—should feel unwelcome or disrespected when giving their business to a café. The treatment I experienced was disgusting, and I cannot in good conscience support an organisation that tolerates such behaviour. I share this review to raise awareness so that other Black customers are not made to feel the way I was.

Mehmet and Livia were fantastic. Great coffee and super kind and helpful. Cappucino was just perfect and cheese and ham toastie also excellent. I was on a long ride and they made space for my bike so I could have my pit stop without taking all the gear of the panniers. Very thoughtful. Top notch all round!!

Lack of soft furnishings and a busy Saturday afternoon meant it was quite noisy. However the coffee was excellent, the chocolate fudge cake moist and delicious and the service from the batistas friendly and efficient.

Good coffee, lovely barristers and fresh croissants. Not the best coffee in town but good enough, the service is always good and the staff are lovely to everyone. Croissants are fresh daily.

Had to ask for a cloth to clean a table, as did other customers. Food debris left lying on seats as well as the floor, no attempt made to clear this by staff. Café felt grubby. At the time cafe was quiet and not particularly busy.

Ordered large latte to take away, I mean I know latte ain’t the strongest coffee but at least you should be able to taste a tiny bit of coffee, just a warm large cup of milk, absolutely the worst coffee that I have ever tasted, 3 sips before being thrown in a temper into the oblivion, AVOID.

Lovely service from friendly staff! The store is clean, presentable and bright. The decor is a little outdated and the store is need of a refurb as the artwork looks tired and worn. The staff are lovely and always serve with a smile! A great selection of hot and cold drinks/food. Uber Eats delivery is also very speedy too. A good spot to enjoy a quiet lunch if you’re passing through Coulsdon!
