   Deeply average, overpriced coffee, which tasted that it came from a bean to cup machine in a 2* European hotel. No story, nothing behind the brand from what I could see. Where do the beans come from, what is their journey? Do they roast their own beans? So many unanswered questions that could be all over the wall behind the counter. It just feels like any other faceless coffee shop. I really didn't like the tip option with the preset on the card machine, which felt like I was in the US. Overpriced for Hook Road and I was really looking forward to trying this place and supporting local business.

   Waited in the shop for 9 minutes (exactly) before the server acknowledged my presence - genuinely, she did not look my way at all and the shop is tiny so no missing me! She eventually asked for my order (after having a natter with the customer before me) and then presumed that I wanted a large drink (and attempted to charge me as such). When questioning the price and confirming that I wanted a small hot drink, she started to change the total charge on the till without acknowledging what I said or uttering an apology for not checking in the first instance. I was waiting for a bus, which - by the time all this had happened - was 1 minute away (I was waiting in the shop for about 12 minutes in total according to the bus timetable which I had open the whole time, so as not to miss my bus). I then said I couldn't proceed with the order - which she had yet to start! - given how long this had all taken. I was met with a raised eyebrow and nothing else. I have worked in customer service for over 15 years. The Roasting, do better with your servers. As a potential first time customer, I know I won't revisit this coffee shop. I didn't ask for the name of the server, but I have not come across (in a very long time) someone who - at best - is entirely indifferent and nonplussed about customers, and - at worst - is rude, impolite and completely unsuited to be in a customer facing role. Zero stars, obviously, for service. Annoyingly, in order to post a review, I have to afford this establishment at least one star.

   All I can say is bellisima!! I have been wanting to try The Roasting for quite sometime. It is definitely worth the wait. The coffee was great and the pistachio croissant was absolutely fabulous. It’s one of the nicest pastries I had. The prices were also decent and affordable. Service is also great. The guy helped me to choose pastries by giving me an idea of what each of them were and he also gave me a drink recommendation. I will definitely come back to try the other stuff.

   I work nearby and visit every day. The staff are lovely and so friendly, the coffee is great and they have an amazing selection of pastries and sandwiches. Couldn’t recommend more highly!!

   So happy to have this lovely new cafe with really friendly staff on my doorstep. Great coffee (and hot chocolate!), as well as delicious pastries & sandwiches. And their new platters are an added bonus, highly recommend!

   Absolutely in love with this cozy place! Fantastic spot and great addition to the area, yummy selection of pastries, panini and deli. The best cappuccino so far. This will be my treat going further!
