Excellent cinema! Been coming here since the early 2000s and glad Vue have brought it back from the brink. I see a lot of people complaining about the self service and comfort of the seats. For me the self service is way better (although I am an introverted Zillennial) being able to decide in your own time is great. The sweet section that was in the old cinema was the same premise. All the seats a much more comfy than other Vue cinema's I've recently been to, just because it doesn't have recline buttons doesn't make it any worse.

The whole experience was overall very good however what let’s this new cinema down is the lack of hand rails for those including myself who find steps difficult not having that support makes it very awkward I saw quite a few struggle on Sunday and no staff on hand to make sure people got down safely on the other hand seats comfortable cinema right temperature

I'd have to say the whole experience minus the self service was perfect. The slightly annoying part about the Castleford Vue is that it's all self serviced, but the prices are actually slightly more expensive for at least the hotdog as it is usually Β£7.50 for example in York, Hull etc. but the self service in Castleford is Β£8. The rest of the experience was absolutely fine and classic Vue quality.

A newly opened cinema in what was once a Cineworld. Very fresh and new. The self service snacks is interesting, definitely looked impressive, but the nachos are a huge downgrade from those served at Vue Printworks, much drier, no chilli Dorito option, the cheese nowhere near as good as the hot goo hand pumped on top. Perfection, these are a but ghost, but I am sure it looks good on a spreadsheet. I missed having a pint poured by a human. It's the little things that make a visit to the cinema feel a little special. But I get it, cinema attendance is down, if you can't increase sales, then cut costs, and this at least aesthetically pleasing and had the feel of being in a funfair. My visit was to try out the new Epic screen. On paper one of the best digital projection systems in the world right now. I was impressed. It's definitely the best digital image I have seen. Although sadly still not a patch on the immersive quality of 35 or 70mm film. The Dolby Atmos sound was fantastic. Excellent value for money. You would pay double for this in London

Very excited to come for the opening day of the new Vue cinema. The layout looks very new and innovative. Unfortunately now they’ve changed to a self serve system there are now no dairy free ice cream options so will probably continue using the Doncaster Vue instead,

We watched avatar in 3d. An all round brilliant experience. Easy to book seats and glasses online and scan in once there. Sweets and drinks are over expensive. Seats were very comfortable. We had planned to eat in one of the restaurants but the were all bookings early so we couldn't eat there which was disappointing.

Great cinema, large choice of films, show times and screen types available. Served pretty quickly, friendly service, good selection of snacks and drinks. Lots of leg-room between seats. Generally very clean and tidy.

Cineworld offers unique cinema experiences that are few and far between from other cinema chains, including the likes of IMAX, Superscreen, ScreenX, 4DX and VIP. But how does it all hold up? For this visit, I watched Thor: Love and Thunder in 4DX. There are some likable and convenient things about this cinema. Being located in a stand-out position right at the top of the main staircase inside the Xscape Yorkshire makes it very easy to locate. It offers a very spacious foyer that is very clean and attractive with it's colour scheme and lighting, even with the inclusion of a Baskin Robbins! Staff are also very friendly and helpful, and the efficiency at the snack counter and getting your QR-code virtual ticket scanned on entry was very good, resulting in very fast service and queues. 4DX was the main reason of the visit, so how was that? Well, I didn't set my expectations too high, but I can gladly say that I was very impressed and actually quite blown away by some of the 4DX special effects! The motion effects on the seats were a lot stronger than I originally anticipated (at one point I thought I was going to be thrown through the screen, a jolt was so powerful during a jump scare!) and felt amazing during flight and battle scenes. The mist and wind effects, though slightly artificial feeling did add to the immersion, however the water effects felt very realistic (but not to worry, as it doesn't drench your clothes. Just that fine water that evaporates in seconds). Some of the other effects whilst cool in practice, could get a little annoying and unnecessary over time. A prime example of that being fine jets of air that comes out with a "pssssst" sound constantly hitting the back of your ears with every gun shot. Some others felt a little weird, like scent as it was the same smell every single time and just smelt like your typical fairground ghost train smoke machine. However overall, I would say the 4DX experience was good. Some of the best effects definitely heavily outweighed the oddities here. I'd say it was definitely worth it and most certainly something worth trying out, even if it is just for a one-off, just to say that you experienced it. So why only 3 stars? Well, two big reasons (both losing a star for each). The first major issue I have with this place is the pricing. Cineworld is definitely one of the more expensive cinema chains going, but yet doesn't seem to offer anything better than the competition (I'm talking about just standard 2D movies here, almost costing double the amount). Also the drinks and snacks follow suit just like other cinema giants. Over Β£20 for two medium sized drinks, a very small tray of nachos and tiny amount of Pick n Mix in the bottom of a bag...? Nah. However the main issue that I had was just how bad the picture quality was on the screen. Excuse all of the technical jargon (if you are not tech-savvy, you can just skip most of this paragraph if you want). Let's start out with the contrast... Just plain awful. The blacks, well, they were grey (even the letterbox bars were standout grey like a sore thumb), so bad to the point where I've never seen black levels so bad ever since first generation TN-paneled LCDs and even makes IPS monitors in a pitch black room look like top-tier VA ones (almost like OLED) in comparison and I'm not even joking around here! Colours on the screen were lifeless and barely had any saturation to them all. These two things combined resulted in a very murky image that was totally flat and lifeless! Then there is the 3D that was virtually non existent and just looked like a 2D image that was set a few feet back into the screen. I maybe saw some smoke or dust particles about a foot in front of the screen for a few seconds, maybe just once? Hardly worth the discomfort of wearing 3D glasses for! In general, I'd say it may well be worth coming here to try out the 4DX experience, and maybe even ScreenX? That I would also be keen to try out sometime. However just to see a regular film here instead of at any other cinema, that is hard for me to recommend.

Very clean and comfortable. Especially worth going on a very hot day. It was a great way for us to get out of the heat for a few hours and enjoy a movie. A win win.

First time going here wasn't too bad. The place was clean and the staff helpful and courteous. Took off a star because my recliner happened to be freer than I wanted. Perhaps I've been spoiled by Odeon, where the recliners are mechanical and stick in whatever position you set then to. Other than that, an enjoyable experience.
