Love this place, have recently moved into the area and it's the best pub around. A great range of food and drinks. Staff that are friendly and efficient. The restaurant is big and very busy so would suggest booking if you are dineing. There's a car park and beer garden too. Only tip for improvement would be slightly better music but recognise that's highly subjective.

Visited in March 2025: First time visit to this gastropub and was not disappointed. Service was polite and friendly. The pub is more aimed for the diners judging by the layout. There was comfortable seating inside and a heated seating at the rear. There were complimentary blankets provided on the chairs already- which was a nice touch. Food was decent - nice take on classic bar staples; particular favourites were the scotch eggs and spicy potato pasty. The Welsh rarebit wasn’t our favourite and a little bland for our liking. The price is expensive for the drinks; one round of 2 x double G&T’s and 1 large White Wine came to £48. So good to know if you’re on a budget. Would come back again in the future to try their main menu.

The white bear is our most frequented local watering hole. Great range of seasonal dishes, fantastic Sunday lunches (with extra sides if needed!), great range of drinks. Service has always been outstanding. Warm atmosphere. Suitable for all.

I was given a virgin experience voucher as a gift. We decided to go to the white bear. This is a gastro pub that belongs to one of the French TV chefs. I am very familiar with this place as it is literally 15 minutes' walk from my house and have been there on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately, the last time I was there it was not very good and I haven't returned for over 5 years. It has gone through a few changes and decided to give it another go. If you go with a voucher, you are given a very limited menu, as you can see from the photo. My wife and I both ordered the cheese soufflé for starters. It was very nice. I ordered the burger and my wife wanted the duck but unfortunately, they ran out so she ordered the vegetable tagine. The burger was not bad but was pretty basic. Meat ,lettuce, and the buns. No onion, cheese, or bacon. My wife's dish looked good and was not bad. I had an apple and blackberry crumble for desert. It's a bit on the sharp side and very little crumble. In general, it was not bad. The whole bill comes up to £76 . They dicounted the voucher, and the total was £23.34 this included the service charge . My main problem is that the voucher was for £100 and not including the extras that we ordered. The food bill was £52. What happened with the outstanding £48 left on the voucher. In my eyes, I personally don't think you're getting a good deal. Why don't they just give you a normal menu and choose things up to the value of the voucher and pay for the rest.

The staff were attentive but also gave you plenty of space to think and decide. The cheese souffle and duck was absolutely amazing. Really recommend. The pistachio souffle is big portioned and also extremely light but tasted of almond, not pistachio but it was still nice.

Love coming here, always fantastic and helpful staff, beautiful decor and ambience however I do feel that the vegetarian roast could be improved. The portion of the actual parcel was very small and not that tasty but I'm sure this is an easy fix for this wonderful establishment.

This is my favourite pub of all times! So dog friendly, with a lovely ambience. Rory, is one of the sweetest and most helpful managers ever! We pitched up yesterday with 3 dogs and made the wrong kind of table booking, but they accommodated us nonetheless. The food is great, local, organic, tastes amazing. My only suggestion is possibly that they could have more vegan options (for my friend, not me, I am hardcore carnivore!). The cocktails are also lovely. The food is very reasonably priced for the quality and I don’t give food praise lightly. Overall an amazing pub and can’t wait to visit again!
