Didn't catch the staff's name but his passion for this place was infectious, he clearly loves his job and it showed - really well thought out puzzles and mechanisms!! Hints were offered when we got stuck but they weren't invasive at all, purely helpful. Would definitely recommend this experience!
Amazing Escape Room experience. Ive done Alice in Wonderland and Wizards, both highly recommend both. Great holiday activity for older kids, 8+, and families.
Great themes and really well thought out rooms. Second time visiting and still as good as the first time. Fab staff that make you feel really welcome
We've visited this escape room before and had a fantastic time, so we were really looking forward to coming back for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t quite live up to our previous experience. The staff today came across as a bit rude and dismissive, which took away from the overall enjoyment. After completing the room, we were rushed out quite abruptly and made to feel like we hadn’t done very well—even though we did escape. It was disappointing, especially in contrast to the friendly and enthusiastic staff we encountered on our last visit. Hoping this was just an off day, as we know how great the experience can be.
Had an excellent time at GR8Escape York! We did the Alice in Wonderland room, unfortunately we did not escape! But we at least made it over halfway! The room was an excellent challenge and really had us thinking the whole time. There is an excellent surprise after the halfway mark but i won’t spoil it! Room is decorated great and really hits the Alice in Wonderland aesthetic! Staff were excellent, we were explained everything beforehand, rules and how to use locks and equipment and also given a storyline. We were given clues whenever we were stuck for a long period of time, clues were enough to push you in the right direction without giving the game away. Once we failed the room we were asked if we’d like to see what else was to be done and we did, another 30-40 minutes and i think we’d have had it! I would 100% recommend this to anyone visiting York and want something to do, those 60 minutes go very fast! We will be back again to tackle another room next time we are in York.
Brilliant evening doing two of the rooms for my daughters birthday, all of us had a great time even the kids found it challenging and fun with the staff being very nice and helpful.
Three work colleagues and I booked the Alice in Wonderland escape room. We were a bit worried at first when we were told it's only got a 40% Escape rate, but once we got in, we had a great time. It had a good mix of engaging puzzles, some red herrings (without them being too distracting or misleading), and a nice mix of challenges. We made it out with few minutes to spare and appreciated that the host took the time to explain some mechanics and clarified our questions! Can recommend, good fun and team building!
Picked up a last minute booking while in town. Managed to escape with just seconds left to go. Only our 3rd room so we did use a couple of hints. The games master was very friendly, talkative and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely return when in town.
