   Croydon's best-kept secret. Emma and her staff make this traditional Victorian street-corner boozer a hugely welcoming place to come. The front bar is tailor-made for conversation but there's a few nooks and crannies if you just fancy a quiet drink. The beer garden may be under the flyover but it's well-maintained and comes into its own in the summer. The best pint of London Pride for many miles and high-quality Italian-style pub grub too. Go on, you know you want to.

   Lovely pub, lovely people, Emma is amazing. But I have to give 2 stars because I can’t stand that Courtney. She’s completely rude and abhorrent towards customers. Has no manners whatsoever and needs a complete personality transplant.

   Just as we knew it, a haven amongst the destitution of what Croydon now is. Thought young staff might have been more pleasant to strangers, in fairness they didn't know I'd been drinking there years before they were born.
