   Went to this pub for the first time yesterday wearing a durag - not unheard of as a black Croydon resident. Minute 1 I am asked to remove my “hat” as they have a not hat policy. I politely reply that this is not a hat but the staff still insist that I have to take it off. We go back and forth and I say clearly that I won’t remove it. I am eventually left alone. Forget the fact that this is culturally insensitive in a historically black neighbourhood. But what if I had a religious head covering? What if I had hair loss and wanted to keep my head covered? Also are we in 1924? Won’t be returning anytime soon but I think EDL just found their HQ.

   Stopped by Bedford Tavern around 11 p.m. on September 25 for a late meal. The place had a relaxed, welcoming vibe even that late at night. The staff were attentive without hovering, and the food came out quicker than expected. Everything tasted freshly made and well-seasoned — not fancy, just solid comfort food done right. Only reason for four stars instead of five is that the place was a little noisy near the bar, but otherwise a great spot for a casual late-night bite.

   Spot on. Main meal and desert were just great. Good atmosphere. Sport on the screens for those that want it (not me) but background music playing even while a quiz was going on (just how I like it) friendly staff. 10 out of 10.

   Stubbled across this pub on a wander around and well worth the visit, especially on a nice sunny day with the decent sized outside space (took pic on purpose when noone was there, but was in use too) with music playing. Good selection of drinks and love Tayto crisps! Sounds like they have loads going on with sports, quiz nights etc. so sure we'll be back. Clean ladies toilets to boot.

   Great pub, was staying at the Hilton (overnight business stay) and drove past this pub on route. Stopped for a pint and stayed for food - amazing portions/quality and very reasonably priced. £5.70 for a pint of Peroni also! Would recommend!

   Enjoyed a great meal. Good value for money, it was so big I shared with a friend. Always a great atmosphere, staff are friendly and helpful. Really great place to eat and relax. You need to get there early as its a really popular place.

   Update your Google opening times or if you have private events then put a sign up rather than turn people down at the bar. This place has recently turned into the 'office' for Ukrainian refugee hosts due to the number of times we have to visit the VAC next door so a nice pub next door is small reprieve from hours of waiting. Bearing in mind your location, why don't you do a deal for the hosts having to wait hours leaning up against the pub garden wall rather than embarrass them at the bar?
