1st time visiting this venue today ( for afternoon tea) with my 2 friends. Really enjoyed the afternoon. Manager/staff Sam and Louis were really polite and helpful. We will be returning for a Sunday dinner soon

The King's Head could be a great pub. The location's good, the staff do a good job. But it's so bland. It feels like an AI version of a pub - it lacks character and authenticity in the decor, the drinks, and especially the menu and the food. It looks nice on the plate, but doesn't taste of anything! Spice it up, put some personality into the decoration, have a special or two, make it interesting.

Appalling service and poor value. Booked afternoon tea for 5 people (£15 per person/ £20 with mocktails) noting one guest’s egg allergy. Staff confirmed our booking on arrival yet we waited 50 minutes before any food appeared. When it finally arrived it was minimal with desserts for only 4 people and just 16 finger sandwiches in total. We were then told one guest was not served due to the allergy but no one had informed us or offered an alternative. The bill was £115 including £25 for prosecco we never ordered. Staff claimed this made it cheaper and tried to give us a bottle instead. After another long wait we were refunded only £15 when it should have been £30. Disorganised, uncommunicative and rude. We had a lovely experience here two weeks ago but this visit was so disappointing I would not recommend it. Management needs to urgently address these issues. Not only was I overcharged, the response back from the management does not offer my overpayment back, but infact explains they are working internally.

My family and I had a fantastic visit to the kings head this evening. The service from Louis and Jasper was exceptional and welcoming. Our food and drinks were lovely. We’ll definitely be returning soon

We had my grandads wake here today and was very impressed; the food was fresh and amazing and the pub was lovely and clean. I would like to send a special thank you to Jennifer who decorated my grandads memorial table and added amazing little touches with the things I gave her; she made it look amazing and her service and kindness won’t be forgotten, you are lucky to have her. Thank you for everything and giving our sad day a happy ending. Adele xx

Food ordered on app. App specifically asks for whether you want your food served for starter or main. But all food came together and cold. Starters were burnt toast then made soggy with melted cheese in microwave. And mains were cold as they sat on table. No apology from staff. Guy serving food is petting dogs at same time no thought for cleanliness. And don't your dare send me a generic apology.

Lovely pub. Classic beers on tap such as Carling and Fosters, reasonable prices. More exec beers such as Moretti as well as many Real ales. Traditional fire places to keep you warm through the winter. A must visit

A tad disappointed with our visit yesterday. A member of the bar staff was off; clearly didn’t want to be there. A printed menu gave us lots of choose from. Told the kids menu was on it; it wasn’t. It was on the app instead. We then discovered the menu was actually severely limited. Staff said there were lots of signs flagging this; we didn’t see these. When it arrived the meals were good, kids meal was great. It is dog friendly and I appreciated this. I’d suggested this pub to friends visiting as I’d have a good meal here several years ago. So I was disappointed it wasn’t as good as it had been then. I do understand that the cost of living, shortage of staff etc means that some menus are having to be reduced to ensure pubs can survive. So I do hope The Kings Head can weather the storm and returns to the venue it was pre pandemic.

Historical pub and garden, steeped in local lore, settled on King’s Head Hill, the brow of a steep incline. Traditional suburban family pub with a reasonable complement of beverages, variety of meals and some Vegetarian and gluten-free options. Picturesque period exterior connotes a vanished world of coaching, wagons and horses: arriving at the summit for victuals, a brief repose, recovery and perhaps, revelry, Times change, habits die hard.

Wednesday evening snack Got to the kings head about 7 just wanted a drink and a starter Saved quickly at bar and ordered a lobster and sea food cocktail. Had to wait a while and then served by a lovely man but obviously under a great deal of pressure I asked him how many staff were on and he sort of laughed and said he was extremely busy not enough work for. My food was good. Thank you.
