No longer serves food - or at least not on Good Friday 2025 at 1pm. Apart from traditional pub snacks that encourage drinking - KP salted peanuts and Walkers Salted potato crisps. A traditional out of London new housing estate pub from about the 1950s. Airy spacious a real local for the few drinkers here. As visitors coming in for a toilet and refreshment because the family that we were were playing a surpise visit to were not available. We were given an excellent friendly welcome by the barmaid who has been here 12 years who stood by me helping me enter the correct WiFi password. Just the sort of place I like to find when I am journeying from home.

The staff in this pub are highly unprofessional and unpleasant, especially Sam. She refused to serve drinks, gave me and my family dirty looks, kept whispering to other employees and pointing at us behind the bar, and when I confronted her with the situation, she played the VICTIM, pretended she didn’t do anything, laughed in my face and went around the pub talking to other customers and STILL pointing at me. Honestly, if you want a good night out, don’t come here - STAY AWAY! This establishment, and particularly ‘bartender’ Sam are NOT worth your time, nor money. Completely and utterly disgusted by her and tonight’s events.

These nasty women behind the bar decided not to serve us for absolutely no reason when there’s no one else in the pub. These women are jealous of young girls, this is the second time this has happened in this pub and they were whispering and pointing at us even though we were being unproblematic. Wouldn’t come here if you’re a pretty girl!

Went for Sunday lunch. They didn't do food but gave great advice to local places that do. Sat in the spacious garden and enjoyed a lovely cold beer in the sun. Friendly staff and customers.

Hello to who it may concern I had 13 of my friends show up at 10:30 and they were told they couldn’t come in which is understandable. As we was told they stopped letting people in at 10:15 but… I found out that they let four blonde people in because of the brown haired bigger manager who was had brown hair And they were served drinks so whilst all of my friends turned away these four blond birds who hadn’t even been in since 8 o’clock as I was was allowed in and they got served drinks, but I got turned away with all of my friends. this is not fair, so I am pleased to tell you that me and my friends will not be coming back. I’m afraid that all of the service is none of our fault. I hope you can understand that why I’m writing this complaint because of the fact that my friends weren’t allowed in, but friends of the managers were, I’m very upset to say that none of us will be returning and we are so sorry that you are losing our service, but I am sad to say that although your pub is good fun, we shall not be returning because of the lack of customer service due to the fact that we was not the managers friends and she told us that we was not allowed in because we are not her friends

There aren't too many places in this part of Loughton/ Debden to get a decent pint of beer but The Gunmakers Arms is most definitely a good place for a decent pint of lager, Guinness or something else. It also has a decent pool table. It's a good boozer.

Despite living in the area a while now, first visit and pleasantly surprised. Visited on Saturday, Good atmosphere, drinks fairly priced. Also there was a live band who were good.

I would say best pub ever especially for families with kids, it has a playground in the garden where you can chill and worrying about kids going on to public road, very welcome staff as well!!!
