Classic Comfort at Rising Sun Rising Sun is everything you’d hope for in a proper British pub — warm, welcoming, and full of character. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was relaxed and familiar, with wood-panelled walls, friendly chatter, and the comforting scent of pub classics. We enjoyed a couple of pints from their well-kept selection of ales, and the fish & chips were spot on — crispy batter, flaky fish, and golden fries. The staff were cheerful and attentive, making sure we felt right at home. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, enjoy the moment, and savour the simple pleasures. Whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for a hearty meal, Rising Sun delivers. Final thought: If you’re after a traditional pub experience with good food, great beer, and genuine hospitality, Rising Sun is a solid choice — timeless, cozy, and full of charm.

Full table service drinks included, pizzas only but great tasting, plenty of TVs for sports fans, noisy if your not a sports fan at weekends.

We’ve visited this pub twice before without any issues, but today’s experience was unacceptable. At 1:20 PM on Sunday 14 September, we encountered a staff member who was extremely rude. Although our tiny 7 months puppy barked upon entering a coulpe of times, but we assured him she would settle once seated. Given her age an size it made the only other two patrons in the pub laught. However, the barman, got immediately angry about the dog barking whlie he was talking and asking us if she will bark all the time. We made clear she would settle bit this was not enough and he asked us to leave as he did not want a dog in his pub. His attitude was completely inappropriate for a place that claims to be dog-friendly. Can someone please look into this matter?

This pub might be in The Daily Telegraph top 500 pubs (who actually reads that paper anyway), but to have a policy that you can't wear a hat is just daft. There are those who cover their head for personal or medical reasons, and asking them to remove their hat is insensitive. If Father Christmas visit you this Christmas, don't forget to ask him to remove his hat....

The Best Boozer in Brentwood. Beer on point, great for sports, pizzas are unreal and the staff are class. Landlord is a class act who knows how to run a pub. Definitely be back.

This previously run-down pub has been refurbished by the new management team and made both fresh and welcoming. The choices of drinks are fair but what makes this pub is the friendly nature of the staff and patrons. Well done to Ian and his team.
