   From initial contact, until the close of my Dad's Wake couldn't have been bettered by the Royal Oak (Ockendon). Communication with Nikki was always clear, polite and efficient (via phone and text) leading up to our Family event. Also, my Sister and Mum viewed the room and spoke to Staff before the day, which was always a pleasant experience by helpful Staff. The Team kindly provided some display boards for us to show Family and friends old photographs. The room provided, was ideal in size, tastefully decorated, private (away from the Public bar and general Customers), and had sufficient seating and tables. [the room heating temperature was a little on the hot side for me and most guests though, which is the only slight negative]. The cold finger buffet food was tasty, well-presented, plentiful, and served at the time we had agreed. Tea and coffee were provided as a 'self-serve' (which worked very well for our guests). There was a small private bar in a corner of the room which was staffed well for guests wishing other drinks. The staff on the day were all respectful, professional and willing to help in any way and did not rush us in any way. At the end of the Function, they helped to wrap left-over buffet food for us to take. The car park is sizeable, and more than adequate for the number of our guests (and the pub Customers); it was explained to us before the day that parking was free for the 1st 3-hours (then a £1/hr thereafter I think?). Like a number of parking venues, you need to enter your vehicle registration on arrival in the pub. The pricing for the event was probably about the correct rate you may expect (from comparisons with other venues I scoped beforehand). Overall, the total experience was excellent; so a big THANK YOU to Nikki and all the Staff at the Royal Oak who helped make a difficult day for us (my Dad's funeral), a very pleasurable place to have the Family Wake.

   Had a great laugh with the staff and management, really great warm welcome, we had Sunday Lunch and the price was excellent for what we had, food was hot and tasty. Only quibble no coffee machine for coffee ☕️ thanks guys !!

   Thankyou Tracy for looking after us and all the staff for brilliant service and lovely food. We had a Sunday roast including 4 meats!!! With dessert in included. Absolutely fantastic value, and beautiful food. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

   Spent a pleasant few hours in a quaint old pub which would have been in the middle of nowhere when it was built maybe 300 years ago ? When things were built by eye ! They had a singer this Saturday doing rat pack songs which was a welcome accompaniment. The staff were lovely and the drinks were a good price . Thanks to all at the Royal Oak for a lovely evening

   Always a welcoming atmosphere. Visited today for a wake to celebrate my friends life. We were well looked after and staff were really compassionate and understanding. A great family pub dating back hundreds of years. Well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed

   Such a beautiful quaint country pub, a real gem, with fabulous staff, so very clean and wonderful food. A beautiful beer garden to relax when the sun is out. I had my mums wake here to, Mum would of really lived the day, they even got a cocktailtender in for the evening. Highly recommended for family, sport and any other social events.
