My parents and I enjoyed Roast Chicken dinner here on a Sunday. The restaurant was very busy on an early Sunday evening and my sister made reservations for us including which roast dinner we wanted (recommended). The portions were well-sized with a huge Yorkshire pudding. Very good food with plenty of yummy veggies too (carrots, cauliflower cheese, swedes and cabbage). My parents enjoyed apple and cinnamon crumble and treacle pudding with custard. The fruit adorning their desserts is called physalis (for those, like us, who didn't know it). Wait staff delightful. A large table of guests next to us complained that their pre-ordered side was unavailable and were very generously (overly!?) compensated for the (minor) inconvenience.

My favourite dinner has always been a good Sunday roast with actual crispy roast potatoes , I’ve always been very hesitant in having a roast dinner when out for lunch as it never seems to hit the spot with the potatoes and even the meats but over the last few years me and my wife take long drives around Kent to try them and have had some pretty decent ones tbf but yesterday Sunday 21st sept 2025 we decided to pop down one of our local pubs, The Ship Inn for lunch and I had what I can honestly say the best roast dinner I’ve ever had in a pub/ restaurant ever it was amazing looked great tasted great and the potatoes were actually crispy on outside and fluffy in the inside the pork was juicy and succulent , amazing home made pork stuffing balls flavours galore we will definitely be returning for many more well done all staff front of house and of course to the kitchen and chef

We stopped off here whilst travelling to Kent. I found the pub by searching dog friendly pubs on Google. We didn't book, we arrived on a busy Saturday lunchtime, and they had a table for me, my husband, and 2 dogs. The food was delicious! we both had burgers. Would definitely visit again if I was travelling past.

2 of us came here for lunch on a weekday. It’s a gorgeous Gastro Pub with a stunning Orangery and outdoor seating. We sat in the bar area where there was a lovely traditional fireplace. The staff were super friendly and attentive, the food was superb. The calamari was so light and crispy, one the best I’ve ever has. The Paella was also delicious, and such a generous portion! I had to take away the rest! Definitely coming back here again for a drink or lunch/dinner.

Fabulous food and great service in a genuinely lovely surrounding. The pub is ancient and full of charm, although there is a modern dining room extension, and rhe marquee is great in the summer. The food is genuinely excellent and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!!

Had a gorgeous lunch today. Staff attentive but not over the top, garden table enjoying the sunshine and great atmosphere. Totally recommend. Oh and through August Monday to Thursday they are offering eat out to help out (not government backed) - don’t hesitate in booking even if the offer has finished.
