We came for Sunday lunch and had the pie and the roast, both absolutely excellent! It's clear a lot of care goes into both the food and service, can't recommend enough! Will definitely be coming back

Sadly an AWFUL experience today for Sunday lunch at 1:30. The food was so sub standard, we all wished we had gone to Toby Carvery. I’m so upset about the experience as we were so looking forward to it and the food was so so poor and the manager refused to compensate us for two of the terrible roasts. The roast is so boring and the gravy was liquid and flavourless. It was like a puddle on the plate and ruined the whole meal. So disappointing as the roast looked good but was so tasteless and wet. Worst of all was the pie - turkey & ham - they should be ashamed to call this a pie and serve it as it wasn’t a pie at all. I am not exaggerating when I say I received a pile of thick dry cubes of chalky chicken & ham, no sauce or anything holding it together, it was literally dry cubes of meat with a flabby wet pastry top. I don’t understand what ok earth they were thinking. So so disappointing and barely edible. We only ate 3/4 of our food out of purely being so hungry and not wanting to have to wait for more food to be made to replace it. We were told we wouldn’t get compensated because we ate it all when we didn’t have clear plates at the end at all. At the end of the meal I took the lovely waitress to one side to complain and explain our poor experience, in the nicest way I could and as discretely as possible. She was lovely about it and passed it on. The next waitress to come out to speak to me claimed to be understanding but was unwilling to do anything about it or take our honest feedback. We felt like we were the enemy and basically were told no one else had complained which is irrelevant as I am a paying customer who had just had a terrible meal and was being asked to pay over £100 for the pleasure of being served dried lumps of meat, wet pastry and watery gravy poured onto incipit boiled veg. Eventually they took the pie off the bill but refused to remove the roasts. Shocking response from the owner to paying customers who so had hoped it would be amazing and become a regular haunt of ours. I asked to speak to the owner and was forced to wait a while before they would come out at which point, given I was there with a toddler and a baby, we had to leave and pay, so we never spoke to them. I sadly wouldn’t return because of the fact the owner showed no regard for our feelings and I felt totally disrespected and ignored. That for me is worse than awful food. I don’t pay to be given awful service as well as awful food. The only positives were the young lady who first served us and the garden / playground area are nice.

Very warm welcome, traditional pub with sports and drinks bar and restaurant area. Varied menu of homemade dishes with a specials menu on the blackboard. Plenty of lovely waiting staff. Food was delicious and good portions. Will definitely return when next in the area. Ample parking. Looks like it would be terrific in the summer with the outside seating and bar area.

Very friendly staff, extremely good food and dog friendly too. This place has been the only public building I have been in where the toilets actually smelt pleasant! Excellent pub, I'll be coming back again.

Wonderful service, prompt with a smile, and really nice options on the menu. We ended up here somewhat by accident after the Grufalo trial and booked a table purely based on reviews. Although it was about 15 minutes away I'd say it was worth the drive. We had the double stacked friend chicken burger, pear and walnut salad, ribs for starter and the meringue which was a perfect summer dessert. Good vegetarian options as well. They cater well for outside bookings and are also well setup post Covid. Lovely pub, lovely people in a lovely area.
