I recently joined Virgin Active Sheffield and had an outstanding experience thanks to Oli and George. From the moment I walked in, they made the whole process smooth, professional, and actually enjoyable. Both Oli and George took the time to understand what I was looking for in a gym, walked me through the facilities, and clearly explained all the membership options without any pressure. Their energy and genuine enthusiasm for helping people get started made a huge difference. They created a really welcoming atmosphere, answered every question I had, and made sure I felt confident and excited about joining. If you’re thinking about signing up at Virgin Active Sheffield, I highly recommend speaking with Oli and George....they truly go above and beyond.

I can only say a day of no items stolen and no injuries is a good but rare day at this gym. The gym floor is extremely busy. You have to dodge elbows and kicks to walk through the gym. The spa is a mimick of spa with 30 seconds of bubbles every ten minutes. Staff try to help but I suppose with poor infrastructure and oversubscriptions only so much can improve.

Head office have been absolutely awful to my sister who has been a long standing member of virgin gym, causing her mental heath to deteriorate after her financial situation changed. She would have stayed a member but they have billed her for PT sessions she has not used and are still insisting she pays more. Absolutely zero customer loyalty and support. Otherwise the staff at the gym and in PT are wonderful but it was out of their hands.

I’ve had been loyal member of Virgin Active for over six years and growing frustration with the direction the club has taken over the past two years. The frequency and size of price increases (6 monthly, another £20+ on this occasion) have become unreasonable and each time they are justified by improvements that do not benefit all members equally. Initially, we were told the increase was due to new equipment, which was necessary to bring the gym up to an acceptable standard in the first place. Now, it’s Reformer Pilates that I neither use nor have any intention of using. It has only disrupted the schedule, reduced availability for other classes, and caused chaos with last-minute waitlists, making it nearly impossible to plan consistent workouts. Management spoke to me in August and assured me they were going to increase classes in September - it never happened! It feels like the club prioritizes attracting new members over retaining loyal ones. Long-term members are repeatedly overlooked in favour of short-term financial gains and people are getting sick of it. I’ve made the decision to leave Virgin Active and join another club.

It used to be a good gym, I’ve been a member of this gym for almost two years, unfortunately it getting bad day after day specially if your workout time is in morning. You can barely find a place to workout as all gym is taken by staff and their sessions. Disappointing!

Things seem to have improved since my last review regarding customer services so I’m bumping it up to 4 stars. This is a very well equipped gym with great facilities for families so I have always been pleased with this aspect. The reception staff are much more helpful than they were when I last posted a 3 star review. This has considerably improved my experience of the gym. We had a mixed experience of the crèche when little one was a baby but she’s loving it now (age 2). To get to five star… Coffee in the cafe could be better. Changing rooms could be cleaner in family changing - they are dirty first thing in the morning.

Like most comments on here it saddens me to leave 2 stars. The 2 stars are for the staff because they are very helpful and friendly but due to the behaviour of other members I have decided to cancel my membership. I have seen on so many occasions young men spitting on the floor in the steam sauna ( it was a good clear out kind of spit) and also around the spa area, swearing and in general being very loud. I did report one of the spitting incidents to a member of staff who said she would radio someone to come and clean it but no-one came. It's a crying shame because there are no other gyms that offer the facilities virgin have near me.

I started at Virgin in March 2022. Not only is the gym absolutely brilliant but the staff are too. I began PT Sessions in August with Jon Ainsley and he is incredible. If anyone is looking for a personal trainer who doesn't put loads of pressure on you, gives you great tips and advice and just overall makes your time in the gym enjoyable, I'd highly recommend him. I had have trouble with trainers in the past who want to train you till failure and while that works for some it puts me off. Jon isn't like that at all, he listens to your goals and supports you all the way.

Decent range of equipment but insanely busy In terms of your reply, yes, I've been using the club occupancy feature but it's almost always 80%+ full and the climbing wall is usually occupied with inductions and kids classes. As such, I definitely wasn't enjoying the experience and I cancelled my membership last month; it expires tomorrow. Thanks for the attempt at keeping my custom though.

Virgin Active Sheffield is a great gym. It has almost everything you could need, plus friendly helpful staff and is, in my opinion good value for money. The only downside is the parking limit, but I appreciate why they have to have it and it's not a problem if you remember to enter your reg plate at the reception desk (if you're planning to stay more than 4 hours that is).
