“Danny was a fantastic instructor. I arrived nervous and unsure, and left feeling confident in the water. He was so reassuring, and taught me all the techniques in a calm, understanding way. I'd highly recommend him for anyone looking to learn.”
“We always have a great time at swimming, currently attending weekly. The staff are friendly, the pool is suitably sized and warm, and the swimbabes programme is great for encouraging the first steps to swimming. Very happy with the facilities and service.”
“A heated outdoor pool in lovely surroundings. A real gem in Hathersage. Check the website whether you need to book. In summer you definitely will. Changing rooms and an excellent cafe just outside. Highly recommend.”
“Our boys have been going for about a year. Ashleigh does a great job in developing their swimming skills. The place is always spotless, the classes are small and the prices are good. Highly recommended!”
“This is a lovely café in Hathersage village just a little set back from the main road and only a short walk from the railway station. Convenient for refreshment after an outdoor pool swim and the breakfast menu includes a special dish of Turkish origins. Sizeable scones look good too.”
“Very hot upstairs in the viewing gallery, much better viewing and cooler in the cafe, which has a full glass wall and seating”
“Susan is the most passionate and enthusiastic swim teacher you could wish for. We have loved going every week since our little boy was 16 weeks old and he now gets so excited for his lessons each week. She puts so much effort into making each week a different theme and the lessons are always great fun whilst also teaching really important swimming and water safety skills. The pool is always lovely and warm so babies don't get cold unlike at the public pools. You couldn't wish for a better place for your little one to learn to swim.”
“Our Son has been going to Louise's Swim School since he was a baby, he is now 3. He absolutely loves being in the pool. The lessons are small groups which means there's more focus on your little ones. Lovely location and the pool is also 5*. Finally, Louise is a fantastic instructor, we wouldn't go anywhere else. Our Son loves his Thursday swimming lessons. Highly recommend”
“Amazing first time swim class with our 3 month old son. Pennie was an excellent teacher and we couldn't be happier with our baby's first introduction to swimming. Highly recommended and prices very reasonable. The facilities are excellent as well!”
“What an absolutely amazing place Swim 4 Paws is and made all the more special with the care and attention from Alison and Nigel who go above and beyond to make it a great experience. Our 3 Spaniels love every minute and its packed full of fun and chaos. Whoever said you can't tire a spaniel out is wrong haha.”
“Brilliant place for children to get water confident. Lovely friendly staff and the instructors go the extra mile”
“I took my LO (4 months) to the toddler swim for the first time today and we loved it. It was exactly what we were looking for - a lovely warm pool! There was a lovely swim teacher on hand to help with anything and couldn't do enough for us which made us feel very welcome. There are also lots of baby swim toys to use which was great.”
“Was having a problem with my hotntub heating up. Contact hydroactive spas and they said an engineer would contact me. Within the hour Martin called me and we discussed the problem. He said he would need to book me in for an appointment. 20 minutes later Maring called me again and said he was in Manchester and could come over to Ormskirk know. What a fantastic service from a fabulous Engineer, Martin and the company. Problem has know been fixed and working fine. Thank god for my warranty.”
“We visited the gardens on their charity open day. Have visited twice previously and on each occasion it has been a lovely experience. It is a beautiful place.”
“All 3 of my children had swimming lessons here. My son who is 8 goes every Saturday. He loves going and the staff are amazing.”
“The best instructors and company! My son is 3 years old, is very confident in the pool and already a great swimmer because of them. Wouldn't go anywhere else and would highly recommend!”
“I decided at the last minute to refill our hot tub for valentine's night as we had emptied it due to selling the bungalow but needed a new filter, I called aquafun who was closed but he agreed to reopen up for me to buy a filter ,we had an amazing night ,what a legend he was , thank you from Peter and Jean”
“We’ve had swimming lessons with Tanya at the Quays for just over a year, since my little boy was 4 months old. My little boy really enjoys his lessons and he’s built up so much confidence being in the water. Tanya is lovely, gives plenty of encouragement and explains the importance of learning the different water activities. The Quays has free on site parking and a big changing room with plenty of space to change your baby. Highly recommended!”
“Great venue but is small for a large swimming gala”
“We were early so visited The friendly Library in the same building. Which had lots of activities & interest for children young & older. Then walked through to swim time. Great pool lovely welcoming staff.”
“Just had our last lesson with Swimbabes and Alex and I honestly can't recommend them enough! We started 6.5 years ago with George when my eldest was 10 weeks old, and continued when we had our youngest. Swimbabes are amazing, from the programme they teach to every member of staff you deal with. Nothing is too much trouble and both my boys finished the programme knowing how to safely behave in water and swim without floats. As a parent this key life skill they learn and also the memories and bond you get with the class is invaluable. I'm pretty sad that this experience is over and to any parent who is thinking about joining just do it. Nothing will replace the songs, the laughs and the cuddles. Good luck to Swimbabes and a massive thank you especially to Alex and George xx”
“I can't recommend Bakewell swimming pool enough. Excellent customer service, always helpful and willing to answer questions. Daughter has been having swimming lessons here over the past few years and I can't fault the instructors and friendliness towards her during lessons. She has achieved a level of swimming far beyond my expectations when she began and hopefully she'll continue in the future. She's had some truly dedicated instructors over the years. A brilliant team of people.”
“Can't fault the training pool here. My 2 year old grandson loves it. Even a few toys for the kiddies. Big shout out to the young lady on lifeguard duty. She got my grandson really engaged and even encouraged him to try to swim across the pool for a toy, which he did with a little help. He gave her a lovely wave as we left.”
“Brilliant pool, facilities are great and staff friendly.”
“Remains our preferred swimming pool in Sheffield as a family, we love the leisure swimming its a mix of relaxation and fun.”
“Great amenities, viewing area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent swimming areas. Very clean and tidy. Good for wheelchair access. Fantastic gym”
“What a lovely little Victorian baths. I came for a 7am swim this morning for the first time and loved it. You need to book a slot as they get filled up pretty quickly, but I think you can pay on the day too. The pool was a lovely temperature, and not over crowded with most spaces gone. Individual changing cubicles are along each long side of the pool, keeping in keeping with the history of the building. Did read some reports of the pool area being dirty, but going for the first session of the day was very clean. There is also a small gym on site, and by the reception area are some vending machines. Excited to go back!”
“Amazing place to visit if you like walks or even just chilling, and even a quick paddle if its a warm day, kids had an amazing time and spent most the day in the water. Cafe has amazing food and it work out no more expensive than it you went to a fast food place, but it tastes far better....”
“My son has been having swim lessons for a few weeks now and he is absolutely loving them. The weekly themes help keep the lessons new and engaging for him and the support from the staff is fantastic. They are always so enthusiastic and friendly and keen to give feedback at the end of each lesson so you really feel like you're clear about the progress they're making. Abbie and Albert are particularly fantastic with the younger children in their Swim 1 classes and you can see them making progress and getting more and more confident every week! I would highly recommend swim! to any parent looking at getting their children started on their swimming journey.”
“Great facilities. The gym was refurbished near the end of 2023 so all the equipment is pretty new. There are synthetic pitches, squash courts, fitness studios, A multipurpose sports hall (badminton, basketball, etc) Water fountains available all over. Staff are helpful and friendly. Taken a few fitness classes and the instructor (Alison) has been excellent. The only issue is the pool is now permanently closed. I think the rock climbing wall may have been removed as the room was used for a weights room the last time I looked. Lockers are free, as is the water. Fitness classes are inexpensive. The site is spread across two public buildings, with lockers, showers and changing rooms in both.”
