I was a little hesitant after reading some reviews, but my experience has been completely different. The practice is well run, staff are friendly, and I’ve always received good care.

Despite all the other low reviews that this surgery has got, my honest review is this the front desk staff have done a fantastic job through out these troubled times we live in , people should have more paitence with the staff there instead of publicly destroying them. Every time ive had dealings with them they are very professional, courteous, and very friendly, well done all 5***** . Also the nurses especially sarah , her manner is very professional and her blood talking skills are second to none , shes that good you dont even know shes took your blood . The doctors are excellent. Especially dr Gabriel and dr Shanmugam . Who always give great advice and do what they need for you in a very professional and friendly manner. Yes its hard to get an appointment here , thats because this surgery has got mega patients from miles around its a very busy surgery , My advice to all you idiots out there who slate the reception team here and shout and swear at them like ive seen more than once , their hands are tied they can only do what is humanly possible, so get a life stop picking faults and having a pop either be patient like me and others or move surgery and suffer the same situation.

I’ve been a patient at Dovedale Medical Practice for a year or so now and unfortunately, my experience has been consistently frustrating — especially when it comes to managing my repeat prescriptions. Despite finally being put on a repeat system, every month is a battle. I order my prescription through the app as instructed, but when I go to collect it from the pharmacy, I’m told it still needs to be signed off by the GP. Trying to get in touch with the practice to resolve this is near impossible — phones go unanswered or I’m told the next available appointment is in weeks time. As a result, I’ve been forced to call 111 several times just to ensure I don’t go without the medication I rely on. The whole process is exhausting and unnecessarily stressful. I take this medication to support my health and wellbeing, yet the way the practice handles prescriptions actually adds anxiety and disruption to my life. I appreciate that GP surgeries are under pressure, but basic, ongoing care like repeat prescriptions should not be this difficult. This repeated experience has left me feeling unheard, unsupported, and let down by a system that’s meant to help.

Was quite surprised to see the low rating. Yes it’s sometimes hard to get an appointment but since they have switched to online bookings this system is much better. Took my son for an appointment (he was feeling generally unwell) was seen by Mark who was extremely thorough. Wasn’t sure what the issue was but asked we left a urine sample with the front desk so he could dip it later and ordered bloods. Mark called back later as promised and asked I took him Good Hope, he even prepared a letter for me to take. On arrival at A&E they took his vitals. We were instantly taken with speed to resuscitation. It was extremely scary. My son was actually suffering from DKA, a life threatening illness from undiagnosed Type 1 Diabetes. He was treated and all levels are now back to normal, we just need to adjust to treating and maintaining our new diabetes diagnosis. I was told by many hospital staff that if we hadn’t brought him in when we did the outcome would have been very different. Mark saved my son’s life with his extensive checks and with absolute conviction I would hesitate to recommend the Dove Primary Care Centre.

there’s a lot of negative comments, but i’ve been with this GP since i was a child and i’ve never struggled to get an appointment and doctors/nurses are prompt at treating patients. i think everyone needs to consider the NHS uses a triage system. the reception staff are lovely, can get a little bit busy but always seen and listened to.

As others have said.. This used to be a good practice but it is becoming harder to see anyone or actually get through to reception (not the receptionist's fault I have to admit) at 8.00 am in the morning. it is a lottery trying to get connected and then waiting to see how far down the queue you are.. a 45 minute wait is not uncommon (again not the receptionist's fault) You cannot book ahead for next day so you have to try again.. last time my wife took three days to get through. I feel for anyone paying 15p per minute (the rate for our land line at that time of day) which would cost £6.75p.

I had an appointment with Julie who took my bloods today, she was lovely, caring and friendly! She informed me of every step she was going to do before she did it and was just in general a kind person. I then spoke to Jackie on reception who again was lovely and friendly and resolved my query promptly. Overall, it was a very good visit today. I have been with this surgery my whole life and I have never had a problem with the care they provide. Booking appointments is a issue and they can be hard to get BUT they are like that at every GP surgery in the country so that doesn't reflect on this review.

Absolutely useless. Can never get an appointment, receptionists say you will get a call back from a doctor and that's slim pickings. I have to argue with the doctor's cause they keep rejecting my prescription. And when you do get to see them your lucky if you get a solution or just we can't do nothing

I used to be a fan of this surgery but recent years since covid they have been a nightmare. The reception staff are professional and must be fighting a losing battle having to constantly tell patients they have no appointments. However that courtesy can’t be said for the practice manager. Not once, but twice the surgery have failed to send my referral through to the relevant hospital. Despite numerous chase calls I was repeatedly advised I would need to wait up to 2.5 years for an appointment. It was only 2 years later I called the hospital only to find the referral was never sent. Same issue occurred when I requested an X-ray at a local hospital, again assured me I would just need to wait for the appointment to come through, when no referral was sent. I asked twice for the practice manager to call me back, but she failed to do so. As she only works one day a week this serious mishap clearly wasn’t important enough for her discuss further. The issue with trying to book appointments there is now a joke. It does make me question how many hours the doctors can actually be working there each week if there are so few appointments available. If I try to place repeat prescriptions online I’ll collect my medication from the pharmacy with items missing. Which then results in the requirement for a doctors appointment - which I can’t obtain. After 13 years at this practice it’s time to move my care to The Oaks in Great Barr.

Might be the best surgery ever, unfortunately i will never know due to never been able to get through on the phone. Over 80 calls since 8 am its now 8:15 and i just get cut off, my 4 year old is in immense pain and i feel helpless as a dad due to not been able to get an appointment. It’s borderline disgusting, im willing to go through pain and discomfort my son should not no kids should very unhappy should be ashamed !
