Absolute disgrace! I would not recommend my worst enemy a night here! Please see the added photos for sufficient enough evidence. My husband booked a night here through booking.com and we are currently awaiting a refund although the owners will not acknowledge their emails. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS! (If I could rate 0 stars I would!)
This was a great hotel to stay, where the staff were friendly in checking us in when we arrived in the late hours at reception! Key was a traditional way to lock up our room in a garden shed and curtains are thick enough to block out light, storage space is solid too. The beds had good size and a proper number of pillows each, although it is a bit of a loud location due to planes flying overhead for anyone who's a light sleeper. Shower however did not warm up properly and towels were too small, sink itself was running efficiently though. Kitchen has plenty of options like water and orange juice to drink with cereal as well as toast at breakfast, plenty of seating for different guests. Water machine is a superb addition and at the end, checking out was easy by dropping off our keys when no staff were at reception!
Cleanliness was not amazing. The bed sheets had stains on. If you want to step back 60 years this is the place to go. Would not recommend. Pretty sure there was bed bugs to.
It’s not anything fancy but great for the prices they offer. Easy to check in and the room was a decent size for a single and the shower was good, they had extra sound proof windows fitted as it’s on a very busy road which is appreciated. Breakfast was a little confusing as kinda a help yourself to whatever you can find and no cooked options but available so can’t really fault them. Again I stress the price you pay for something in such a good location is very well reflected in the experience you receive. Mattress was surprisingly comfy too which was a surprise since I heard it crunch when I sit on it.
The room was damp wallpaper peeling, dirt and mould everywhere in building. Only stayed a few hours for a sleep on way home from airport. It all looked very grubby. The man in charge was very polite. The breakfast convenient that we could help ourselves, but wouldn’t stay again. It was cheap but the smell was intoxicating
most of the other good reviews on here say "cheap & cheerful" and I can't disagree with that. we paid £55 for 1 night in a twin room on a busy weekend when even your budget Birmingham hotels like Travelodge and Ibis wanted more than double that, and I reckon we got good value for money. the room was no frills, but the beds were comfy and there were plenty of convenient wall sockets for charging electronic devices (better than every chain hotel I've ever stayed in where the sockets are always the opposite side of the room from your bed). it was warm too, much appreciated on a cold winter's night, and given the price I was happy they didn't cut corners on this despite crazy energy price rises! the main downside was the toilet / shower room. the only ventilation was one very dusty extractor fan that clearly wasn't doing enough, as the wallpaper on the shower room's ceiling had started to peel away and go mouldy. the flooring was starting to peel away at the corners too, and the toilet and sink didn't seem to be attached to the wall or floor properly. I wasn't too bothered by this but it would definitely stop me from staying more than one night here; it's not a room I'd want to take a full shower in. it'd be much better if they'd tiled the entire space and made it more of a wet room; the space is tiny so it surely couldn't cost that much in the long term, even for a budget guest house. breakfast being included was a major highlight, though, and really made me feel like I was getting value for money (I'd have had to pay an extra £10 or more to get breakfast for two people at a chain budget hotel). the breakfast room is a pleasant little space where you serve yourself with whatever you like. there's white & brown bread for you to make toast, a decent selection of jams, spreads & cereals, plenty of orange juice in the fridge, tea & coffee supplies (quality Yorkshire Tea was appreciated!), and even the facility to boil yourself some eggs if that's what you want in the morning. because it's self serve, you can get up as early or as late as you need to and still have breakfast; there's no arbitrary cut off time other than when you need to check out. the location was convenient for us; it's a 35-40min bus ride from the centre of Birmingham, or about 12-15min walk from Lea Hall train station, which has direct links to the airport, so there's plenty of ways for you to get about the city. if you drive, there's parking on site for you too. yes, it's under the flight path of Birmingham airport, but so is pretty much all of this side of the city so if that bothers you then maybe Birmingham is not for you! if I need to overnight in Birmingham again, this is definitely somewhere budget friendly I'd return to for a quick stay. but I wouldn't recommend staying here any longer than one night until the shower facilities have had the refurb they sorely need.
Where do I start this was the dirtiest most disgusting place I have ever stayed at and quite frankly should be shut down The shower room smelt toilet almost of the floor, in fact to much to write. Be warned if you are booking It was like a horror hotel Good luck if you have already booked in
We went there with our 2 young grandchildren. It was dirty, cold and disgusting. Couldn’t use the shower. It was dirty and the head was off the wall. Toilet didn’t flush properly. A shed in the garden. Dirty, cold and damp. We lost something under the bed, so moved them and it was filthy. Wall paper was pealing off the wall. Didn’t stop for breakfast. Couldn’t face it. I’m glad we only stayed one night. If it wasn’t for our grandchildren being tired we would have walked out.
Very disappointing, the beds were very low and the mattresses were tired and not at all supportive. The decor was tired and the standard of cleaning was poor in places. There was evidence of a previous roof leak in our toilet/shower showing dark streaks down the wall and the ceiling paper was still dangling. On the upside the towels were really good and the self-serve buffet breakfast was ok. The toilet door handle was broken. I wouldn't stay there again.
