I booked a two-night spa stay as a special treat for my husbands 50th, however the experience was extremely disappointing and did not reflect the high cost. The spa treatment was not what we booked. We requested a body scrub but instead received a shoulder and head massage. Despite clearly asking for no oil to be used in the hair, oil was still applied. The therapists’ hands were cold throughout, and the treatment was not relaxing at all. None of showers in the ladies changing rooms had any shower gel. The spa itself was very overcrowded, with limited loungers available and restricted access to the jacuzzi and steam room due to how busy it was. This made it difficult to enjoy the facilities that were a key part of our stay. To make matters worse, the hallway from our room to the spa was extremely cold, making it uncomfortable to walk through in a robe. Breakfast and dinner were included, but the food quality was very poor. The meals tasted reheated and not fresh, and both my husband and I felt unwell afterwards. Because of this, we decided to cut our stay short and only stayed one night, skipping both dinner and breakfast to avoid further issues. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and not what we expected from a spa break at this price point. Unfortunately, we would not return or recommend based on our experience.

The hotel has seen better days, needs a good refurbishment. Very noisy at night time. The rooms are tired, cracked walls, cracked chairs(specially in the restaurant), and the menu in the hotel is very simple. The staff were very friendly and the location if you want a golf day is good, but after that there is not much to do around.

We booked the "Afternoon Allure" package at the hotel spa which included a 25 min treatment, prosecco afternoon tea and use of the spa from 2-6. The price was reasonable for what we got (around £55 each), but there is definitely room for improvement on the service. When we arrived at the hotel we went into the lobby and there was que of people waiting to check in with no staff to be seen, after 20 minutes a lady showed up and said we needed to go straight to the spa. This was not clear and a sign in reception would have easily saved us 20 minutes waiting around. Whilst walking to the spa we had a call from the spa team asking where we were as our treatment was due to start, I explained we had been stood in the lobby for 20 minutes and had arrived well before our time. The robes and towels were clean and fresh which was nice. The girl completing my treatment was very friendly and calming. None of our group of 4 ladies really enjoyed the head massage, it was actually quite uncomfortable, but the shoulder part was lovely. We then went to the pool, but only 3 of us got chairs, they are in desperate need of more loungers. The pool was nice, jacuzzi had a weird chemical smell when the bubbles came on so much we got out as it was burning our eyes. We went upstairs for our afternoon tea, there was no one around and we were stood waiting for 10 minutes until someone showed up. The afternoon tea itself was nice for the price, however we didn't get any prosecco, I showed the waiter our booking had prosecco included and he shrugged and then did eventually bring a glass each over. I do think the staff generally are unorganised, and never seem to be very present front of house, you have to chase them to try and get any help. During our afternoon tea we then got told they were closing at 5pm and the waiter turned off the TV and closed the shutters making it very clear to us we needed to hurry up and leave. We then went back down to the pool which was full of children and parents splashing and screaming, we gave up trying to relax around the noise and decided to leave despite having an hour left. It would be useful if this was made clear at the point of booking that the pool has kids activities from 5 onwards. The locker rooms are quite small and cramped, I also had about 4 ladies ask me where the toilets were as this really wasn't clear. (again would be useful to be told this upon check in) There is definite lack of signage in the hotel in general as already mentioned. Overall it was ok for the price, but don't think id return. I'm only leaving feedback as there are some really easy fixes to make the day more enjoyable and ensure repeat custom.

Spa Treatment I recently visited for a Japanese head spa treatment, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations. Although the therapist herself was lovely — friendly, professional, and clearly skilled in what she did - the overall visit felt disappointing and not worth the £85 cost. The treatment was advertised as 50 minutes, yet it started roughly 10 minutes late (I was there 20 mins early) and ended earlier than it should. In total, I received closer to 35 minutes of actual treatment time, which feels unacceptable for the price being charged. The facilities were also far below the standard expected for a luxury hotel. The spaces looked tired and poorly maintained. Most concerning was the locker area: the lockers were broken, leaving me with nowhere secure to store my belongings, and I was told I would need to purchase a padlock for £5.99. For a spa that markets itself as a premium experience, this felt extremely unprofessional and immediately set a negative tone. While the therapist did her best to provide a relaxing treatment, the surrounding issues overshadowed the session. Better time management and functioning facilities are basic expectations — and both were lacking here. The lad on the reception area was running from one thing to another and I felt that I was an actual inconvenience being there, as he told me multiple times that it was a really busy day. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and that the experience did not justify the cost and definitely didn't leave me feeling relaxed and chilled. I hope the spa takes this feedback seriously, as significant improvements are needed before I would consider returning or recommending it to others.

Attended a friend’s wedding reception at The Abbey Hotel and honestly, it was fantastic from start to finish. The venue looked stunning, the staff were friendly and professional, and everything ran smoothly. The food was excellent, drinks were flowing, and the atmosphere was spot on, relaxed but classy. You can tell the team really care about getting it right. It made a special day even better. Would happily come back here for another event or even just a weekend stay. Highly recommend.

Really pleased with our stay. 2, nights for a mini spa break. 2x adults, 2x toddlers. One family room which was a great size. Ground floor, spacious and well furnished. Staff were extremely helpful and promptly tended to our several requests. Very helpful and friendly staff. Facilities were also very good. We came for a spa break... pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and shower facilities were all clean and appeared in good order Overall happy and will be staying again

My fiancé and I booked a spa afternoon on a spontaneous trip (same day booking) and the spa manager Lauren went out of her way to book us in. From the moment she took the call, she was impeccably polite and welcoming and this was echoed further by Beth who took over on our arrival. We had just got engaged 24 hours prior and Lauren and the team went out of their way to make us feel welcome and celebrated. I have to say, with such short notice we have been so well received and looked after. Robes and towels were provided. Given that our trip was so impromptu we had forgotten slippers but Beth provided these at no additional cost or inconvenience. We had the illuminating facial treatment with Ellie who was great. The treatment has been great! My skin and my partners has been glowing and extremely hydrating. We stayed to use the hotel’s facilities, fully equipped with a jacuzzi, pool & sauna. Facilities are clean and updated and we are looking forward to returning. Whether you are looking to staying as a guest or just as a spa user. I would highly recommend. The team are extremely professional and have great manners and a welcoming nature. Nothing was too much trouble. I take this opportunity to thank the ladies at The Abbey Hotel Spa. We had a wonderful afternoon. Thank you for making it special. See you soon

Spa day with afternoon tea, overall very good although they used to offer access to a coffee machine, this is no longer available. Also the normal place to eat for spa days was closed for a function meaning we had to walk through the hotel in our dressing gowns and flip flops and eat in the main restaurant....this felt very uncomfortable. Treatment was lovely and food was nice.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the hotel, the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent and our room was spacious and very clean. We brought our dog with us at a cost of £15 per night, however despite the hotel claiming to be pet friendly there was no sign of it in our room, not even a water bowl. We suggested that they may wish to review this in the future. We stay at dog friendly hotels regularly and we always have some kind of welcome packs in the room eg, treats, poo bags, even a ball sometimes. The minimum we'd expect is a water bowl - luckily we always take our own. One other suggestion is that a few poo bins could be placed around the grounds which is essential if you take your dog. Other than that we enjoyed staying at the hotel.
