Been before and it was ok but not this time. Starter of scallops and meatballs, no chorizo with scallops as they had run out but still not a pleasant dish. The meatballs where warm but the sauce was cold and the cheese we requested didn't melt so it was very disappointing. Mains where lamb cutlets and a steak with prawns. The lamb cutlets were obviously frozen. Out of the 3 cutlets 2 where nice. The steak was not as asked for, it was under done as asked for medium/well and was more medium (bleeding onto plate!). Deserts where both cheesecakes the strawberry and prosecco had no biscuit base and the toffee and honey combe only a very thin biscuit base. It was a Friday night and it seemed there were only 3 staff. Two girls and what we assume the chef. We felt the service was lacking as we were sat with no drinks for long periods and dirty plates not collected. The £8 black forest cocktail was the size of a thimble and tasted of nothing! We did not wish to complain at the time as the staff are young and I didn't feel they would be able to resolve the issues we had and as I enjoyed the mains and drinks (other than the Cocktail) I didn't want to cause a fuss in there. We will never go there again! We paid a similar amount at Quattro's on the Rainford bypass and the service, food and ambience were by a country mile far superior.

Excellent little bistro - if you can get here without driving, I would recommend the bottomless brunch. The duck bon bons are to die for!

Enjoyed a wonderful meal at The Wood Pit this afternoon. The menu here is great with lots to choose from, all in our party of 6 adults (and 2 children) were very impressed. I had the katsu chicken curry which was so fresh, crispy and delicious, I look forward to trying more dishes. Staff and proprietor very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Best of luck to this fab little eatery, thanks for a great meal!
