My brother and I visited Lidl on 23rd December to buy food for Christmas. I was completely unaware that there was a limit on vegetables until I reached the till, where I was told the limit was three bags per person. I had four bags of potatoes. The supervisor on the tills spoke to me in a very rude and dismissive manner. When I politely asked if I could come back and purchase the extra bag, he responded by saying it “defeats the purpose.” I then explained that my brother and I were not celebrating together, but instead of listening, he called me greedy. What upset me most was how he stepped into my personal space. I asked him three times to move back, and he refused. I felt extremely uncomfortable and intimidated by his behaviour. This was completely unacceptable, especially as a customer who had done nothing wrong. The store manager and a security guard eventually came over and removed him, but I was then told to leave the store, which only added to how distressing the whole situation was. I left feeling shocked and disgusted by how I had been treated. I understand stores have rules, especially at Christmas, but there is no excuse for rudeness, name-calling, or aggressive behaviour towards customers.

I’m a regular customer at Lidl Hamstead and have only had 2 negative experiences there and they’re with the same person. The worker is a short older Asian woman who usually wears her hair in a short ponytail and both incidents I’ve had have been at the self check out. I’ve never left a review before but her communication skills are disgraceful and need to be addressed. In both incidents, one being yesterday evening, she has rudely accused me of not paying for a bag even with evidence on my receipt that I have and has snatched my receipt from my hand on both occasions to check. Yesterday I was having issues with scanning one of my items without a barcode and she rudely grabbed my basket (which still contained items as I had not finished shopping) and began trying to scan my items for me despite me being perfectly capable and there being no queue or any reason to be rushing me. When I communicated this to her she left the screen interface on the confusing setting workers use to input product details which I could not understand. When I communicated this to her she refused to change it back making it extremely difficult for me to finish payment and almost seemed like a punishment for asking her to not do it for me. She then accused me of not scanning my bag again when I asked what I need to click to pay which is unfair as on the USUAL interface it acts you how many bags you need after clicking pay. Simple human decency is taking the time to understand a customers needs. The first time I excused her behaviour and assumed she was having a bad day but perhaps there’s just flaws in her character which Lidl Hamstead needs to address.

First time visiting this Lidl location, and it will definitely be my last. I happened to walk into the middle of an incident involving the store manager and a couple of customers at the checkout area. What I found most unsettling was the way the manager conducted himself — loud, dismissive, and shockingly made physical contact with a customer trying to document his name badge. I’ve never seen a staff member, let alone a manager, behave so aggressively toward a customer in a retail setting. The whole situation could’ve been handled calmly, but instead, it turned into a scene. As someone who works in customer service myself, I was genuinely disappointed. No one in a leadership position should be acting this way, especially in front of paying customers. Lidl needs to do better — full stop.

I left the store today feeling upset and honestly shaken. I can’t stop thinking about how a situation that could’ve been handled with basic respect turned into something unprofessional and completely unnecessary. Two customers were calmly asking about something they clearly didn’t understand, and instead of helping or listening, the store manager made things worse — raising his voice and then, shockingly pushing away the hands of one of the men. Just because he tried to take a photo of the manager’s name badge. That moment changed everything for me. I stood there feeling helpless and uncomfortable, watching things escalate in a place I usually come to for peace of mind and quick shopping. No one deserves to be treated that way, and no employee should feel entitled to use their authority to intimidate customers. I truly hope Lidl takes this seriously. The kind of energy that manager brought into the store today was toxic.

Coming here to see all sorts of negative reviews about this branch is not surprising at all. I’ve had several experiences there but I just brushed them off. I’ve seen some complaints about a sales attendant that chats to her other colleagues instead of serving you. I have also experienced that with her and she has come across as rude. This lady in question is the short Asian older lady. It may surprise you that I have come to also give a review based on an incident I had seen at the store today. Two guys who were in a queue being served complained about inconsistent information being passed to them. The manager was summoned and things escalated between the manager and one of the guys. Instead of de-escalating the situation and explaining to the guys in a polite manner, the manager was seen to be rude to the extent I saw him making physical contact with one of the guys who wanted to take a picture of his badge. The security made efforts to calm the situation but the manager insisted the customer was escorted out. I observed the guys were calm until the manager made physical contact with the bloke. Due to this incident, other customers on the queue were left helpless including myself. We stood and waited to be served while this was ongoing. I thought to myself “why would a manager of a store like Lidl act in such an unprofessional manner”. This particular incident also reminded me of times I would come to the store and see him raising his voice at the store attendants which is sad to see. People get a small taste of power and feel they are above everyone. I hope this gets investigated and the people mentioned above receive disciplinary measures or training to help curb the bad image they keep giving the store.

A superstore size store with huge car park. Very busy at times. Only downside is at the car park Exit if you would like to turn right (due to really busy Hamstead Road) it is very difficult to find a quite moment... (A traffic light can fix this issue), other than that really comfortable shopping expeience.

This is a very nice store, with ample amounts of parking. The staff are pleasant and helpful. There is a good variety of items. The only issue is, the tills can get busy and wait times at the till can be long. They need to be a little more proactive on the tills, but other than this, I enjoy shopping here. The bakery is fantastic, BUT get there very early, we usually stop by on morning school run.

This Lidl is much bigger than the one I usually use on Soho Road and has a lot more in it. It want particularly busy when I visited and very cool which was appreciated on a very hot day! Nice wide aisles and a big "Lidl in the middle" section. The checkouts were busy and it could've done with another operator on as there were long queues. The automated checkouts were quicker than on Soho Road. Friendly and helpful staff and a huge car park with electric car charging points as well helped to make it a good shopping experience.

I am disappointed with the new Lidl! I thought it would be better stocked than the old one, but it isn't! Many products are missing, shelves are empty, and others have not displayed the price.
