It's under new management a young couple who were so nice .we visited to play a darts match and were made very welcome.short walk to York town center. They don't do food at the minute but do long stay rental rooms.

Great place at great value so close to the city centre, which is only around 20 minutes on foot. Yes the furniture in the room was a little dated, and the wallpaper and paint could do with freshening up, but the rooms are clean and tidy and provide all the amenities with a spacious bedroom and en suite. Rooms are always warm, which was more than welcome from the biting cold outside. If I had to make any criticism it would be the mirror in the bathroom, as I am short, fat and hairy, I had to stand on my tiptoes to shave. But the hosts here are great, and always checking to make sure things are ok and that you have a plentiful supply of tea bags and coffee. They also provide off street parking to the rear of the Inn and while I didnβt sit the bar, it looked like a great place to unwind and they offer bar snacks should you get peckish.

The Heworth lnn is a large traditional multi-room. There is a good selection of beers lager and cider two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The cask ales were in excellent condition when I visited. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, there are no bar games but there are TVs showing Sport. There is outside seating, and the pub serves meals

Great location, easy to hop on a bus into York. Spacious room, bath and shower is a bonus. Food is good, but they sold out of steak on a Steak Night after about four customers. Sold out of sticky toffee pudding every night we stayed (3). Breakfast is generous and parking available. Staff friendly. Very clean and would definitely stay again.

What a hidden gem definately be going back . The building is beautiful. It has been decorated to suit the building just fantastic. The food are very nice tv. Hot drink table with tea coffee and a nice touch 2 chocolate yorkie bars . The staff on entrance was friendly made you feel like you was going to visit your mum and the hotel was her home. The beds were realΔΊy comfy. They had night time entertainment. Breakfast was just perfect . We had full English it was just enough not overloaded however you could have cereal first if wanted . There was a nice selection of fruit juices too. Access was easy no steps to walk up .situated a five mimiut bus ride into the centre of York The bus stop is outside the hotel and on the way back too so no walking a long way to he bus stop .way easier than trying to get parked. The staff were all very polite and helpful .you will not be disappointed if you chose to go here.

So looking forward to having Sunday dinner there today. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Was put in the snug. Nothing snug about it. Absolutely freezing. Ordered the beef dinner. The Yorkshire pudding was delicious. The one piece of carrot was too just not enough. The beef was tough but edible. The potatoes were rubbish. Understand that they are end of season but you can buy better. The cauliflower cheese was raw at the stems plus the sauce needed bechamel but the cheese was Red Leicester so it did add taste. Anyway the waitress went on her lunch after collecting our dinner plates and after 25 minutes waiting for our pudding we gave up! Went for bill and they didnβt even take the money off as itβs a two course deal for 19.00. A deal is a deal! Thatβs what we were told. So disappointed as we really wanted to enjoy as itβs our day off and wanted to encourage and support a fairly new business. But unfortunately we canβt as it was totally disappointing. The owner is ill in bed otherwise we would have asked to speak to him directly. Such a shame. Small changes would have made a huge difference. But the fact that we didnβt even get a pudding and had to pay for it really was the icing on the cake so to speak

The new owner Steven was a breath of fresh air, welcoming, attentive and overall a genuinely nice guy. We booked a family room for 2 nights at incredibly short notice. The room was clean and was huge. Great location. 10-15 minute walk from the centre. Or bus stop out front that takes you straight in to the centre in 5 mins. See you next time we are back in York.

A new owner that's full of energy to succeed with the place. It's more a locals pub with live sport and a good beer selection. Food should be available soon again.
