   Have had both my children here in the last 7 years and both times they have been faultless. This time around I ended up needing a category 1 c-section, I was visibly upset and devastated by this as had attempted a vbac but they did an amazing job at calming me down before putting me to sleep and most importantly saved our daughters life. How they managed to keep such a time sensitive and life dependent situation under control and keep me composed is beyond me, after care was excellent, from the midwife’s (Especially midwife called Ama who was there through my induction, monitoring me and realised I had gone from 3cm to 10cm in less than an hour, noticed the stress this caused my baby and raised the alarm to get help, thank you.) to the paediatricians to the gentleman who pushed me on my bed to the ward, everyone was respectful and perfect. Sadly, due to the traumatic birth experience this time around I don’t plan on having anymore children for my own sake but if by miracle I did, I would be back.

   Overall I had a great experience with Jessops from appointments to the birth. I spent a couple of nights on the ward prior to my birth and the night staff in particular were amazing and really took the time to listen to me. The MLU is lovely and I'm glad I got to experience it before being moved to Labour. I also had a student assisting with delivery who was amazing. I will say the post natal ward is quite outdated, if this was modernised then I feel it would be a better experience post birth.

   All of our midwives went above and beyond to give my wife fantastic care during labour, delivery and recovery. They were kind, empathetic, and informative throughout, and we really had the feeling of a team around us helping us through the experience.

   I gave birth 10 days ago and the team were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The night staff, in particular, went above and beyond. On my first night, they set up the shower room with my pyjamas and toiletries so I could take a little moment for myself after all the chaos. They kindly watched over my baby while I did, and when I returned, they had changed my sheets and tidied up around my bed. Having been nervous about staying in hospital after hearing stories and reading reviews about the standard of care at Jessops, I felt it was important to share how positive my own experience was. The only feedback I would give is around the support provided for partners. The only option my partner had for staying overnight was a basic chair, which was so uncomfortable that he ended up sleeping on the floor. A kind midwife noticed and brought him a pillow and blanket, which we really appreciated, but having a reclining chair or at least something with more padding would make a big difference. It would mean partners can actually rest while still being there to give the support that’s so important.

   I have never left a bad review for any place before, but honestly this is the worst place I have ever experienced. The postnatal rooms are pure psychological torture for both the patient and the companion: tiny and shared, with old worn-out curtains that provide no privacy. They don’t provide a bed, a comfortable chair, or even meals for the companion – as if their presence doesn’t matter at all. The nurses’ attitude is terrible, with no compassion or care. They give you a discharge time, but then keep you waiting more than 4 hours before completing the paperwork, and every time you ask the nurses all they say is: “wait.” Absolutely exhausting and deeply disappointing experience.

   The staff were lovely but it's not run in an adequate way. The departments don't talk to each other. I feel like the care is reactive rather that a support service. Prescribing doctor took over 12 hours to actually fill in the prescription. It didn't feel very private or intimate having a child here. The after care wards are not a soothing or peaceful place for someone recovering from childbirth.

   Not the best experience as a dad watching 8 women in the space of 8 hours shoving their hands in my wife and then her catching sepsis because of them doing it. She was told she was full dilated so started to push. Then two hours later they stopped because they realised she wasn’t fully dilated. And then had to have an emergency c section because my son was stuck. Some of the staff are amazing. But that place shouldn’t be run like that. And it’s a matter of time till someone is seriously hurt or killed through negligence.

   CQC: Inadequate!. We confirm. Not for the doctors but for some midwifes that showed us some discriminations. Laughing when my wife has been left 6 hours without pain relief after a cesarium section, and when upset I said (after calling them 6 times) "we are now going home" they said laughing:"They are going home!" In the other room. Then we left, and this is only 1 example.... A nightmare, avoid If you love yourself!!!.

   If i could give this 0 stars i would! This has to be THE worst hospital in Yorkshire!! I had 2 babies here in 2015 & 2018 and received fantastic care. However, I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant, booked in for an induction due to multiple health issues with myself & my baby, and the care i have received has been horrendous! They delayed my induction due to being backlogged, then didn't return any of my calls. I finally got a bed and was given hormones to start my labour off, then after 4hrs of agony with no pain relief, they stopped my labour due to the baby being in distress. Kept me on a ward for 2 days, monitoring me every 2hrs due to complications, to then suddenly sending me home the following morning because there is a 2-3 day wait for a bed on delivery suite. Staff were rude and didn't follow up on any requests. The medication i take regularly wasn't sorted until i was leaving. By which time, I had already sorted it myself to be dispensed by my local pharmacy. No care or concern for my other children at home, whom both have ASD. Im dreading going back to actually have my baby when and if they decide to call me!! If i could change hospitals, i would!!

   I was really worried about having a baby in hospital after two home births but the staff were all amazing especially the student midwife Helen and midwifes Jessie and Rebecca and all the support workers and doctors couldn't thank them enough they all went above and beyond. Thank you so much for treating me kindly and for bringing my baby into this world safely I couldn't have done it without you! You're all amazing x
