Our pug was hit and ran over in the street outside our house in a quiet cul-de-sac. We took our dog to Vets for Pets in Wigan where the treatment was second to none. We got transferred to Chorley as it was a 24 hour surgery and our dog still needed to be operated on. Our pug was operated on 22 hours later. He lay there with his pelvis broken in 3 places. He had surgery at 4pm, had three breaks fixed and a screw in his pelvis into his spine to hold everything together. Can’t thank the surgeon enough. The surgeon finished surgery, it couldn’t have gone any better and left our pug, he was awake and well onto his path to recovery. Then came the night shift. The young boy who was in for the night shift decided he didn’t want to do any work on night shift and didn’t do any checks on our pug until 00:45. Our pug came out of surgery at 5pm. 7 hours 45 minutes without a check up. Our pug then died at 2am after multiple resuscitation attempts. They had a duty of care and they violated it. I haven’t ever seen such a shambles of a vets in my whole lifetime. The lack of remorse or empathy. The laboured looks on the faces of the people who worked there when you walk in with a sick animal. Not just an animal, your everything. I advise all who read this and all who have the choice, go elsewhere. Your pets are not safe here. They are not well looked after. They do not care. This is just a job to the staff. They turn up. They leave. They get paid. There will be an upcoming lawsuit for them to deal with due to the gross negligence of my dog. Don’t let that be your pet.

Let me start by saying that the staff here are absolutely lovely, and genuinely cannot do enough to help - I don't have a single bad word to say about them. Two main issues that keep getting worse on every visit, leading us to a point where I think we have to seriously start considering a different practice: 1) Timekeeping. I haven't had an on-time appointment here ever. 20-40 minutes late is routine. It's clear the practice is massively understaffed with nowhere near enough people for the number of patients. Likewise with reception, they're so helpful but rushed off their feet constantly, leading to huge lines almost every time. 2) Pricing. This is the major issue - the pricing recently, especially since the Medivet takeover, has got absolutely insane. It feels like almost every time we visit the prices have gone up again, to the point that it's now just pure price gouging. As an example, our most recent visit was £91 for a 10 minute appointment and some simple ear drops - not even out of hours or anything. Totally unsustainable and pure profiteering.

From the initial phone call to collecting our boy at the end of his emergency treatment we felt heard and were kept updated throughout. The staff are wonderful and even in times of stress (ours not theirs!) we were confident leaving our boy with them. Happy to report a successful outcome and he is back home with us only after charming all the staff with his friendly nature & captivating character. We can't thank you all enough.

There is very suitable working hours 24/7. The Chris was find the reason of our cat sick. We should not give medcine through the stomack, we start making injecktion instead as tablets and liquids irritate and make werse pancreatis. Now the our cat, i hope that, is healing slowly.

We brought our pet hamster as she had developed a bald patch by her hip. It was easy to sign up and book an appointment. The staff were so friendly and loved interacting with our pet. The vet was great, they did a thorough health check and were able to treat her skin condition. I witnessed a lady coming to collect her pets ashes and the receptionist was so good with her and talked so highly of her pet. Definitely has a family feel and care about the animals they treat.

Hillcrest is a fabulous vets. My kitty Peanut received wonderful care and attention from the vets. She’s had a skin problem and tummy bug as well. I’d highly recommend this surgery. Really friendly staff and good car park too.

Had my dog booked in for an operation, dropped him off at 9am as required, 2 hours later, received a phone call to collect my dog as they've cancelled the operation due to an emergency and they don't have enough vets now. I understand emergencies are unforseen but to not have a contingency plan to deal with the situation other than to cancel pre booked operations is ridiculous, that's a days pay I've lost for nothing and now I'll have to lose another day's pay for the operation my dog needs on top of the vets bill, and hillcrest aren't exactly the cheapest vets.

Chris, Trina, and all the team , I can only describe as brilliant. My dog had to have an intricate operation on her foot, about 4 weeks ago. Their expertise, care and consideration both before and after the operation was wonderful. My dog is always happy , not nervous when visiting Hillcrest. Thank you very very much.
