We stayed at the lovely 15 Brownlow Street. The location is absolutely perfect. The house is neat, comfortable, and very well appointed. We visited for 8 days, and really got the chance to know the neighborhood and begin to feel "local". We highly recommend this property. Dow and Fiona Sanderson Charleston, South Carolina

We spent six nights over Christmas at Four Zero Six @ Ryedale House and loved it. The apartment was perfect, beautifully decorated for the season (including a fabulous tree), and the private, secure parking was a huge bonus. StaysYork’s instructions were clear and thorough - access and key collection were seamless. The Piccadilly location is ideal, just a short stroll into the city centre. We’d highly recommend apartment Four Zero Six and wouldn’t hesitate to book with StaysYork again.

From start to finish, booking, communication and the actual stay were all great. Stays Yorks are a great company and offer quality properties. Our apartment was in a fantastic location and offered great views over York. 2 mins walk and you are in the heart of the city, close to attractions and all the shopping you could think of. It’s was clean, furniture was high end and just perfect all round. I have nothing negative to stay at all.

We stayed at the loft 3 st Mary's in York late November and had the most wonderful experience. The loft was far nicer than the photos let on, it smelled absolutely gorgeous from the moment you walk in to the building, it was clean and oh my god the bed. It was like sleeping on a cloud. There was such a generous welcome gift bag for us too. The Christmas tree was a very beautiful addition too. It felt so very cosy and warm. It made for a very special stay, thank you Stays York.

I’d give these jokers a negative if possible. All front and zero substance. They have a half decent website with some nice pictures but do not fall for it. What a bunch of amateurs. They manage the properties horribly and are completely clueless when it comes to actual customer service. Try to avoid them if possible you will be left disappointed and frustrated after having to deal with them.

Terrible Experience A development site was straight across from the cottage which we hadn’t been warned about. Alarmingly, half of the hillside across was removed for 5 of our 7-day stay. We were woken early most mornings with diggers and their movement alarms, tractors, chainsaws and on one morning, we were woken by the cottage shaking because a stone boundary wall was demolished. Work started as early as 8am and finished as late as 7pm. We couldn’t sit out in the garden either, as the noise was so loud. We feel we were misled by Stays York as they told us the development would just be for 2 days but it ended up being for the remaining 5 days. They said they couldn’t do anything about it and the work was carried out by Raithwaite Hotel. On the Thursday we asked Stays York to warn other bookings. They only refunded us 27% which meant we ended up paying over Β£1000 for this terrible holiday. We weren’t warned about the development and would never have booked the cottage if we had known. We will never use Stays York again and we are shocked that Raithwaite Hotel does not warn holidaymakers. Also, this is not the only development site on the Raithwaite Estate.

Lovely property 34 St Olaves, York in a nice quiet street, not too far from centre. Well equipped, comfortable and clean. Some of the decor needs updating, freshening up. The heating would not work for the first day despite following the simple instructions but this was fixed by the next day. Beds were comfortable except for the single bed which is kind of falling apart and really needs replacing. House lovely and warm once heating fixed. Shower curtain also needs replacing. Would recommend. If you have two cars we managed to find free parking on the road at the bottom of the street, on the left.

We recently returned from a stay in 28 St John's Mews and were very impressed with the property. It is a spacious, rather luxurious apartment which we thought was well furnished and well equipped. The property was spotlessly clean and tidy upon arrival. The property features a spacious kitchen/diner/lounge area with a balcony just off the lounge. There are two large bedrooms and two large internal shower rooms (one en-suite). As a rule I do not like internal bathrooms because of the constant noise of the extractor fans that generally do nothing and the rooms steam up anyway. However, there were no such issues here. No noisy extractor and yet the shower rooms remained remarkably steam free!! Previous reviewers mentioned things like no full length mirrors in the bedrooms but both bedrooms had fixed full length mirrors when we went. It had also been mentioned that there was a lack of kitchen utensils for self-catering needs (things like chopping boards etc). But this was not our experience, there certainly were chopping boards, adequate pots, pans, oven trays, cutlery and crockery. We had none of these issues. The only (minor) issue we had was with the TV. There were no terrestrial channels for catching up with news and weather. The only viewing was via Netflix etc. The property is in a quiet location about a 10 minute walk into the centre of town, this suited us but might be a problem for the not very mobile. It's also worth noting that the property is on the second floor, up two flights of stairs with no lift, so whilst we didn't have a problem, this might be a consideration for some. A nice touch was the welcome hamper, which contained some locally sourced shortbread, crisps, tea and coffee etc. Perfect if you need something to nibble after a long journey. We are fairly frequent visitors to York and have stayed in some lovely apartments over the years. We would have no hesitation in returning to 28 St John's Mews.

We are just back from a 4 night break at the tractor shed, it was a faultless , relaxing stay. All the amenities you could require ,and added bonus of a welcome box of goodies. Around Β£10 in a taxi into York so very handy for all the usual sights. We used the outdoor space and bbq loads. We hope to visit again soon and would definitely recommend to others.
