   EDIT: Having wrote this review, within minutes I received a call from the person I was in touch with in Leeds, Byron, apologising for not returning the deposit and overpayed rent and returned everything in full practically instantly. I really appreciated this considering I assumed the money was never coming back. It does make me feel this may have genuinely been a mistake - thanks for sorting this out! Didn’t pay me back my deposit from 2021 and still don’t pick up the phone I stayed in a property with Cityred while living in Leeds with 2 friends from 01/07/20 to 30/06/21. After leaving the house we cleared it out completely and cleaned it to a standard Cityred themselves said was good. They emailed us saying we would receive our deposit back in full (£600 between 3 of us). They then claimed they didn’t have our account information, which doesn’t really make sense considering they just needed to check where it came from, but regardless we sent them the information again. But they didn’t send any of the deposits back. We had also sent them additional rent by accident because a direct debit wasn’t cancelled and they said they’d return that, and nothing was sent. Since then we have all emailed and called them countless times but they still haven’t replied/picked up despite our efforts. It’s now been over a year and a half since we left the place and when I call they’re line they still don’t pick up. I understand being busy, but a year and half to withhold such a large sum of money and not even attempt to explain/rectify the situation is just unacceptable. If you’re worried about being messed over when you leave or being able to contact an estate agents when you have a problem… don’t go with Cityred!

They have made the whole process of becoming a landlord very smooth, from finding tenants, to tenancy agreements, maintainence and repairs, and generally being a very professional and trusting estate agency to work with. Very proactive and helpful, highly recommend!

   For anyone thinking of renting with this agency - DON'T. Here is a brief overview of my time renting with them (I could go on forever about the various problems we had): Difficult to contact - the office phone is never picked up and the official out of hours number was disconnected whenever I needed to use it. Unreliable - often when we were expecting maintenance, plumbing or pest control, they would never show up. Very frustrating when you have rearranged your entire day to make sure you're in! Dirty - For several months towards the end of my tenancy, there was a huge rat infestation within the complex. There were rats living in the wall and roof spaces of our house, and they would come into the kitchen at night. I felt like I was in a constant battle with the agency to get this taken seriously. In the end, it meant finding somewhere else to live whilst still paying rent for this property. We also had several toilet leaks from upstairs into the kitchen/living room. This leak left the bathroom and my bedroom smelling so pungent the windows had to be left open at all times for several moths - suffice to say this was not pleasant. All of this made sense once I had a look at some of their other reviews online. All I can advise is to make sure whoever you rent with has got good reviews.
