This is a completely transparent review. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to stay so I can’t comment on the rooms or location. However, judging by other reviews and photos, I’m sure it’s a great place. My personal experience was less than ideal. We phoned up at 11 pm on my way to Doncaster to book a room. The person I spoke to informed me that only family rooms were available. We then drove to Hex Hotel Wildlife Park, only to be met with a rude concierge on the intercom. He yelled at us, claiming he hadn’t spoken to anyone that night as he was the only porter on duty and had no rooms available. I triple-checked the number to ensure I had reached the right place and I definitely spoke to someone from Hex Hotel Wildlife Park. To be yelled at at 2 o’clock in the morning and told I had no rooms available was a frustrating experience. It definitely made me reluctant to visit this place again when I travel up this way.

Decided to book a night away for my wife’s birthday. Absolutely fantastic hotel, everything was perfect for us. An excellent all round experience from arriving to leaving. The breakfast choices were fantastic. Highly recommend for anyone considering a hotel in the Doncaster area.

Amazing Hotel in a beautiful location! It was my Grandson and Granddaughter twins birthday (and my son’s the day after) so we took all the family to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park the pleasure of staying at the Hex Wildlife Hotel overnight, and it exceeded every expectation we had! We were greeted by a warm welcome in reception and all the staff were super friendly and eager to make sure our stay was perfect. The rooms are absolutely fantastic, very modern and well furnished with complementary tea, coffee and hot chocolate (and even jammy dodgers)! Everything was super clean, the bathroom was massive with a walk in shower and the beds were super comfortable. I also love the quirkiness of the rooms having angular walls instead of square corners and the restaurant and bars is also hexagonal. A special shout-out to the manager hotel Anthony for going above and beyond to sort us out with 2 fantastic 5 bed rooms overlooking the Wildlife Park. It’s not very often you can open your curtains in the morning and see a Lowland Tapir walking past outside !! The buffet breakfast in the Wilds Cafe Bistro was fantastic and catered for everyone in our ‘fussy eaters’ family. The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff on site was outstanding and I would highly recommend it to anyone going to the YWP or just looking for a break in an absolutely beautiful location - great service, amazing rooms, and a friendly atmosphere. if I could, I would give it six stars!

Amazing Stay at Hex Wildlife Hotel – Highly Recommended! I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hex Wildlife Hotel, and it exceeded every expectation! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm and friendly staff, all eager to make sure our stay was perfect. The rooms are absolutely beautiful—newly furnished, super clean, and very comfortable. It felt like home right away. A special shout-out to Vicky for going above and beyond to sort us out with such fantastic rooms. Her attention to detail and genuine care for guests was truly impressive! One of the coolest things about the hotel was the vending machine – not your average snacks, it had a wide selection of unique items, making it a fun surprise each time we passed by. A little touch that really set it apart. But what really made this stay stand out was how everyone, from the receptionists to the security staff to the cleaners, went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The friendliness and helpfulness were constant throughout our entire stay. It’s rare to experience that level of hospitality, and it made our time at the hotel all the more enjoyable. A huge thank you to Vicky for all the support and fantastic service. You made our visit even more memorable! I can't wait to return to the Hex Wildlife Hotel, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch stay with great service, amazing rooms, and a friendly atmosphere.

The room and layout of the hotel is beautiful but our room wasn’t that clean. The floors were dirty and bathroom needed a better clean, everything had smears, bath rim had a layer of dust and toilet. Balcony had a lot of cigarette ends which my 2 year old went to pick up! We arrived at 3pm for check in and then nothing to do as everything fully booked. So pre book everything first. Other then that Hotel well equipped and comfy bed. Lovely scenery and beautiful well kept animals. Good food in hotel restaurant.

Where are the signs for the hotel? We arrived at 10.20PM - it was dark and wet. We saw a “HEX” sign in the distance, trundled down a gravel path - 300 yards or so to find a fence across the path with the hotel reception about 20 feet distant; someone from the hotel walked out and advised that the fence was locked and that we’d need to do a large circuit of the complex to get back to the other side of the fence. There is no signage, nothing to indicate direction of travel and hotel reception that are oblivious. The complex has the feel of a building site that is almost finished, not suitable for guest use but getting there. Anyway, back to the reception debacle - after all this hassle and ridiculous nonsense, exit reception completely and walk another 300 yards to an obscurely lit, barely discernible “hotel” sign in the far distance. I’d say the person that designed the layout for this place was clearly an animal expert and not qualified to design a habitable, welcoming hotel space. Zoo keepers managing reception, zero signage, long, dark and gloomy unlit foot travel between car park, reception and living quarters. Absolutely not recommended - an awful whiff of “aren’t you lucky to be here, we’re not finished yet but we don’t care”. In summary, not a hint of where to walk from the car park, disjointed, disorganized, horribly uncomfortable bedding, a long, dark, luggage laden walk around the perimeter of the building when you finally establish in what direction to walk. Rude, belligerent reception staff and a bad nights sleep into the bargain. There are numerous better hotel options in the vicinity and if you value a decent nights sleep and don’t fancy a long, aimless walk with your luggage find somewhere else to stay.

Lovely hotel. Staff were friendly but very much limited in their helpfulness but I think this stems from employing young inexperienced staff. The rooms are really nice and new I hope they get looked after. Rooms are noisy from the animals at night but when you choose to stay at a zoo hotel you should expect this. Its nice being so close to the zoo and also being able to pop out to Doncaster.

The hotel came up in a search as we wanted to attend a concert in Doncaster. This was an ideal location and price. The hotel and complex is fairly new. It was spotlessly clean and very well fitted out. Initial signage was confusing and easy to miss as the reception is located separately to the main building. All the staff were excellent and friendly and due to a cancellation we stayed and extra night. The room layout we had King Superior was perfect for us and gave us drink making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and nice a selection of shower items. Breakfast was very enjoyable and all items availble were of a nice quality, cooked, and presented perfectly. All in all I have no issues in recommending this to anyone as well as a visit to the park as well. There is still an amount of work and further development being undertaken, for a concert venue, pool and spa so it looks like it will only get better.
