   Pleasant, large, country pub. The building has quite a history and a pub has been here for a long time. Interesting photos and pictures of the pub through the ages. Good choice of cask beers and pleasant staff. Location is somewhat remote on the way over the Woodhead Pass. Menu looked good - although we didn't eat.

   Very welcoming staff. Log fire on a cold day. Slightly wider menu than usual including game and vegetarian. The mixed game burgers were excellent. Add good beer and what more could you want!

   Real country inn, warm and cosy, room was roomy, clean. Had twin beds, only problem was a very squeaky bed every time I moved. Breakfast was great, staff are really lovely, needed a knife to slice through the porridge though. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

   Had a lovely meal here the other night. I had the beef sandwich which was stunning however, I thought the portion size would be bigger. The service was amazing, the pub was lovely and we all really enjoyed the food and drink

   Dog friendly, we both had a Roast Beef dinner, beef cooked through what a pleasure, restaurants today always have it rare and my partner doesn't like it, very tasty meal, finished off with ginger sticky toffee pudding and custard, again very tasty, could have done with more ginger. Will certainly be visiting again, can highly recommend this establishment.

   Starters were decent except the microwaved bread. Mains were shocking. No check back from staff to raise concerns. Once the lad cleared our plates (with plenty of food left) he asked if everything was okay, to which we replied no it wasn’t great to be honest. I don’t think he knew how to deal with that as we were just told ‘okay’ and nothing else was said by any other member of staff. I had to purchase a different drink as the draught pop is awful too.

   Called in for lunch after a business meeting. Old world charm with modern comfort. Best fish and chips we have had in a long time. Staff were pleasant without being intrusive. Very clean and comfortable restaurant. Will be calling in again.
